110 Crew to SW Build

This is a budget rebuild from an 84 110 Crew Cab to 110 SW. As is often the case everything I touch is either so rusted it would never be safe or someone has been therefore and its to butchered to be reused.

So far we've installed the following

Marsland Chassis
NTO Rear Body
New Firewall
New Heater
NTO 300 TDI Fuel System
NTO 300 LHD Wiring (complete) took 20 minutes to wire the complete truck.... SWEET
NTO T-posts
Rebuilt Axles
300 TDI (regasket and update)

Waiting on window sides and then the rest of the body can go on.

Should be another month to have it finished.

We are on a budget that's 1/2 of what it should be. I know a guy that has many NTO items.

Is that a late model 110 rear axle, or just a 90 one?

If it's a 90... watch the weighting on it...

It is a 90 axle and it needs to have the spring perches redrilled as the springs are not sitting right based on the pictures.

The 110 would have come with a sals rear which doesn't fit the same as D90/disco/RRC housings.

That's what i was wondering...


90 "rover" and 110 salisbury axles are interchangeable, just unbolt the round spring mount and swap them over... bolt spacings are the same.

However, a 90 axle isn't (legally...well, in the UK/euro anyway) strong enough, or maybe that should be "weight rated", for the 110's load capacity.

But like grnrvs says, it could be one of the late 110 rover axles, which ARE strong enough (the steel is like 5mm thick all over!)

Few updates on this one. The axle is sitting right where it should be. Not sure what all the posts were about, there was no weight on the rear, guess that may have made the axle appear to be tilted forward...... Not sure.

Anyway after much delay she is coming together.
