View Full Version : ROVERS Club Series III 88 Raffle $100

Crazy Fish
April 20th, 2011, 09:53 PM
Greetings all. If this offends the board rules feel free to take it down.

The ROVERS Club built an 88 from spare parts from all the members, Series III. Pictures and more details at http://forum.roversclub.org/forum/showthread.php?2202-Build-A-Rover-New-Information!&highlight=build

Here's your chance to own a Series for almost nothing. Proceeds go to pay for parts/supplies etc and all profits go to a charity, that as far as I know, has not been chosen.

Paypal rules state that it can not be used for Raffles, so you have to send a check. Details on that post.

Sean forgot to mention it is 100 tickets @ $100 so the odds are pretty good!

Not bad for a $10,000 raffle.

Good Looking truck!

Good Luck!!!

I couldn't seem to find the raffle details- such as the drawing date, etc. ( besides the statement that proceeds go to charity...which is not picked yet...). Is there another link with more details?

Crazy Fish

Drawing date is not set until all tickets are sold. Everyone gets a ticket which will be dropped into a bucket. We usually have a kid pick the winner at one of the events.

Sean:

Tickets still available?

Also, how is the title for this? Since it was a reconstruction, is there still a '73 Series III title with it or is it titled as a kit car or something?

galen216
April 25th, 2011, 07:17 AM
It has a Series III title.

charity?

galen216
April 26th, 2011, 07:00 AM
I don't know on the charity. At one point an animal shelter was discussed or possible a women's shelter. I haven't been around any club gatherings for a while to know what the current thought is.

nathanwind

Bump on this, mainly because I bought a ticket and want to get the rest sold to ensure the raffle goes off. There are only 100 tickets being sold, right now they're about 1/2 to the total...not bad odds of winning a nicely put together Series III.

To be honest the only reason I haven't bought a ticket if because it needs a check. I'll talk to swkwtcbi.

Actually they're setting up a PayPal option...should be available soon, I'll keep you posted.

That is a very cool truck. I like the "instant patina" effect of it being assembled from spare parts. If finances allow before the tickets are gone, I'll buy one.

Zimm, no one is going to answer you b/c no one on this site is in the a leadership role with ROVERS club. The leadership of this club doesn't surf Land Rover sites all day long. They are not internet people like us.

June 13th, 2011, 11:06 AM
would the newsletter have a number?

And is okay if you get it, cause you will have to donate your green one to OPM 's charity

I'm not giving up my '63!

I have no idea on the mechanics of this. I assume at some point someone will give us a number and communicate with us when they get the tickets sold and will have the raffle. But I doubt it will happen here - maybe a ROVERS member can ask on that thread.

I'm hoping the addition of the website and taking alternate payment will help speed this up.

If I may chime in (just because I've been through the process already), I believe that Tom (the guy running the raffle) will be mailing you out a physical "ticket" for the drawing. I received mine right after I sent in my check awhile ago.

FYI any questions, I may be jumping the gun but you should be able to contact Tom Bache TBache9248 <at> aol dot com. He's been very responsive to me as well, and while not a D90 member he is on the Roversclub.org forum where this originated from.

Rugbier
June 13th, 2011, 11:28 AM
I am a member at Rovers, I will ask Tom there or call him

Thanks to both

And Charles... if you get to " drive " the ROVERS series...sorry Carlitos... the 63 goes to OPM *LMAO*

galen216
June 13th, 2011, 11:48 AM
FYI, Tom doesn't use the forum. If you want a question answered email him.

He's a super nice guy and probably 80% of the parts on this truck came from his own stash. He is also president of ROVERS.

Sorry if my post sounded like I was complaining or something - I am not. I am sure it will all be handled fine, and by "speed up" I was referring to people buying tickets, nothing else.

As much as I like to think the 1/100 are pretty good odds, I look at this as purely a donation to hopefully a good cause (and validate what these guys did) and a chance to have some fun with it :)

September 11th, 2011, 08:09 AM
From the ROVERS forum, Tom had said he is keeping a list of ticket numbers and names on a master list. All tickets ultimately come off the same roll, so there are no variations in size, color, etc. When the tickets are scrambled and ultimately a single winner is picked from the "hat" the winner will be notified if he/she is not present.

Still working out the picking up part. The title is coming from NH. Once I have plates, I will probably hop a flight to Philly, than pick it up and drive it back to RI.
