Hey all:
In an attempt to use up some of the spare body parts taking up space in my back yard, and to get rid of the rrc rolling chassis in the driveway I decided to build a small trailer. I started it a while back as mentioned it in my series build thread.
I'm using the back half of the '91 RRC chassis with a series 109 5 door tub (because I have a couple in the back yard). I had a series rear x member laying around too. The idea is to have a series looking trailer. I'll build a bulkhead of some sort to close off the front of the tub and I will chop one of my series roofs to cover the tub. I want to keep the rrc gas tank for extra fuel capacity. My hope is to have room for two spare tires, one for the trailer and one for the tow vehicle, 5 nato cans, a 20# propane tank, plus some kind of storage box/battery in front of the axle. Hopefully this will counter balance a full fuel tank.
I will fab up a frame for this stuff that will be welded to the top of the chassis where I triangulated it today. The tongue will be part of this frame. I'm planning to go with a lock and roll coupler (this one http://www.locknroll.com/products_sub.aspx?cid=1&id=28).
Here is a link to the initial pic I posted in my series build thread http://d-90.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=35111&d=1295753379
Here are pics from today.

Cool. If you haven't seen my trailer project, check it out as it's very similar. I hope to find the time to finish it up later this year.

Don't let this distract you from your series build!

Thanks for the link to your build. I had seen it but it will be good to refresh my memory. I'm just going to get the tub on this thing and make it towable so I can move it out of the way then I'll get back to the series build, which has had some small progress over the last month.
My yard is starting to look like a series rover junkyard and I'm (and my wife) are over it, so this will get rid of my last spare 5 door tub. Plus one of the next areas of work on the series build will be to move the rear axle back 4" so I need this trailer/rrc chassis out of the way for that. Anybody need any series parts? :)

I got the tub out of my back yard (woohoo!) and on to the trailer frame. There is a big dent in the passenger side rear corner but hey it just a trailer. Next step will be to figure out how to attach the front part of the tub to the frame. Then figure out the tongue and storage box.

Are you gonna put doors on it?

No I'm not intending to. I can't imagine trashing a set of 109 middle doors for this project! I intend to use a tailgate and put a bulkhead in the same plain as the existing small vertical panels just behind where the c pillars live. 5 nato cans fit nicely between the wheel wells so I think Ill build a holder for them just in front of the bulkhead. Still thinking on what to do here. I may build something that mimics the shape of the c pillars and use it to support the front of the tub and tie into the chassis. I dug my old xr100 flat tracker out yesterday and I think I'll put it across the frame rails in front of the tub. This will get it out of my yard and counter balance the fuel tank. Plus it will be fun to putt around camp too. :)
I need to get back to work on the series build so the tongue is next for sure just so I can tow it out of here for the time being.

Made some progress on the trailer tongue today. Its made out of 2x2x 3/16" tubing. I made a T shape and plated the joint with 1/4" flat bar. I bought an 18" long receiver hitch that will slide over the 2x2 tubing. I will weld it on and drill it and put a large bolt thru just to be sure. Next will be to add more flat bar over the front part of the chassis where I cut and bent it earlier. Here are some pics.
