Who would be in for a PA trip to Rasch or Paragon the weekend of the 16/17? Jimmy and I are talking about it but we need a few other Rovers to make a group. I know it's a little early but we want to give everyone time.

OK so should we shoot for the 23rd? or make it a Halloween run? If we do a Halloween then paragon is out due to the NEUROC Finals. The weekend of the 23rd looks clear at Paragon, and there is only 2 groups at Raush.
So who can make it when?

I can do either the 23rd or the 30th. If we can decide sooner and later that would be nice as we typically host an Octoberfest party around that time.

So I have decided to hold off, check out all the rigs at MAR and maybe even find a steal/deal, and hopefully can make a move right afterwards. I need sliders too. So much to do, so little time...

However, I did visit Diff Muncher, Sill Whacker, Exhaust Crusher and Rear Quarter Cruncher a few weeks back (but at a different location) and they were quite fun. I hope to have diff guards by the trip, otherwise I'd prefer to avoid Diff Muncher this time :)

Well, I need some MUD! I go all the way out to Utah and not one drop of mud. I think Rausch has a better selection of mud then Paragon. Oh and if we get Jimm's Jet engine T-case working by then both of us should be on for Friday morning, so we would only need a thrid to be able to enter the park.

I'm going to try and make it but, I don't think that I can get there very early Friday morning I can probably be there by Friday lunch time-ish... My vote would be for Rausch.. Where to camp though is another question. Any recomendations.. The KOA wasn't bad except for the 4am skidding wake up call every morning. I won't know if I'm going to be able to go for sure until a couple of weeks.. Depends on if the little woman is going to let me out or not.

Mike Hippert
September 23rd, 2004, 05:11 PM
Figure it takes about 6 to 7 hours (giving extra gas up time) if we leave at 2 am we should be good to meet everyone at Rausch at 10 am. Dave we normally drive down 84 would there be some place good on 84 to meet you. And we will be traveling at Normal Defender speed 75 mph and slowing a little on the hills (Jimmy's 90 is limited by the speedo offset.
What Campground have we decided to stay at? I don't really care just as long as it is open this late in the year. If the trailer park we stayed at last year is not open we can always camp out at Rausch on the trail, only problem is there are no showers, not a problem for me but I think I know some wifes that may have a problem with that.:grin

KOA and RC sound like a good combo. Kinda busy these days, so could someone volunteer to make reservations for us?
souza
September 24th, 2004, 09:40 AM
Mike...
Meeting off of I-84 would be perfect for me. I think there's a rest stop just after Exit 70 southbound (around Willington, CT). That's one option (I see the reststop on Delorme, never actually been there). Then at Exit 68 (further south) there seems to be a quite a few businesses: Subway, Texaco, Papa T's Homestyle Cooking, Electric Blue Cafe??? :) something there might work too!
Speed should be fine, I tend to slow on the hills a bit too while towing. So... leave 2 am, arrive 9 am, setup tents, etc, on the trails at 10. when do we sleep ;)? I imagine we all need to make separate reservations at KOA?
Mike Hippert
September 24th, 2004, 10:20 AM
Cool We can exit 70 sounds good, I think it takes us about 2.5 to 3 hours to get there.
Ken I don't think I have been to KOA but I did find their website (I think)
www.koakampgrounds.com (http://www.koakampgrounds.com/)
And in the PA area
http://www.koakampgrounds.com/where/pa/index.htm
My guess is it is this camp ground?
http://www.koakampgrounds.com/where/pa/38180/index.htm
Which would be cool as they have cabins for the people who don't want to tent it.
I know normaly we try and get a group site that everyone can set up camp in one place and sometimes we get better rates. What we need to know is who is comming when so we can tell them what to expect
So far:
ME Fir and Sat
Jimmy Fri and Sat
CVC maybe?
Peter Reed ???
MR. Ken Fri and Sat
Tyler Fri and Sat
Charles Fri and Sat
Trevor and his roudy crowed for Fri and sat
Eric N Fri and Sat
Dave Souza Fri and Sat
I Just listed the days we would be camping, and you are listed in order of reply to the thread.
Now I know Dave has a camper, and I am tenting it, but before we make reservations we need to know who else is tenting it. I can call KOA and make sure we are all set up, I will most likly be in the first group to get there anyway, but I want to get my ducks all in a row before I call.

One thing about that KOA is that when we stayed their last time they didn't have that many spots for tents. Most of the place was for RVs. I don't think that they had a group camp spot either.. The were however in the process of making more tent sites.

Well, I called the KOA (Pine Grove) and they only have 8 tent sites which are pretty muched book that weekend. She said that they are trying to add more tent sites but, probably not till next year..
So I guess that leaves Echo, Rausch, or a motel.... Not sure if I want to spend the extra cash for a hotel or give up the idea of beers around the camp fire at night.
You guys want me to call Echo and see of they have space?

Eric, do you know if they have cabins at KOA at all, Jimmy's wife won't camp in the less then warm weather. I'm just as happy camping at Rausch on the trail as Echo unless someone really wants to take a shower in the green thing trailer at the Echo. Oh Trevor and Eric Thanks for calling around :thumbs !
Eric N
October 5th, 2004, 11:38 AM
I didn't ask about the cabins at KOA since they don't even have any tent space for people that would want to camp. One day without a shower isn't going to kill me (might kill anyone down wind from me though) so I don't care if we stay at Echo or Rausch.
I called Echo, they have the space ( I would assume same set up as last time we were there ) and we would also probably be sharing it with the other group that is going to Rausch that same weekend like when the X-terra's were there....

Troy, Rausch has mostly rocks with a variety of difficulty levels. Some of the rocks are in the middle of a stream bed which happens to be the trail, others require a little effort to get to. Winches and lockers will make it easier, but with this group, you'll find more than a few capable spotters!
How old's your son? Mine's 11 and if the ex-wife is in a good mood, I may be able to request his services for the weekend so he'd have some company.

So what is the verdict on camping / staying somewhere? It seems we're splitting up a bit then, with some at a motel and other camping. If the KOA is out due to lack of tent space, is the next best Rausch or this 'Echo' place? Can we update the list with who's staying where? This is my count from the last few posts, please correct/confirm if you can.
Mike Fri and Sat tent - Echo or Rausch?
Jimmy Fri and Sat - Motel?

Peter Reed ???
MR. Ken Fri and Sat - Motel?

You can. There are a couple of site there. On a side note depending on what's found with my truck I may be in need of a seat. I'm trying to get it to Trevor's tomorrow evening so they can look into the running hot problem.

LOL, Pete M is sending me one. Tyler, when you head over to Trevors can you ask him about Rausch, I think he said that he had contacted Rausch about the weekend. I just want to be sure we are all set to camp and wheel that weekend.

Lynn has us on the calender. If anyone is camping on the Rausch property, we probably should let her know. I can only make it for the day Saturday, anyway.
I have a special request: I have a customer from Jersey who would like to wheel with us this weekend. I have his LWB at my shop and I am looking for a driver to take it to Rausch from Baltimore. Anybody bringing a friend who would be heading up from Virginia or Maryland?

What time should we meet on Saturday morning?

Thanks Trevor
I have been (rudely) leaving the arrangements up to everyone else, so thanks for getting us in. If you need a head count, Here is one for camping at Rausch both Friday and Saturday night.

Trevor, just don't fix Tylers 90 and he can drive it up. I'm down for camping both Fri and Sat at Rausch. Should we call or e-mail Lynn? I think If we are camping you should come by and wake us up at 9ish or earlier just so long as no dogs pee on my tent.

Depending on what Trevor finds I'll be more than happy to drive the truck to Rausch. All I"ll need is a ride home. Oh and camping friday and sat

From earlier posts, I see some Discos are allowed to join.
We would like to join in on Friday and Saturday. No need to include us in the camping arrangements.
Can you tell me what time you are planning to hit the trails on Friday?

Rob,
I can't do anything on Friday. My sister-in-law has volunteered to help me with the nursery, so I need to take advantage of her.
Her generosity, that is.
I wonder how many peopleare arriving Saturday? If those of us meet at the office and then find you a t the Rauschcamp ground, that could work out well.

Cool, 10 on Friday sounds good. Oh and Trevor if you look at the bottom right corner of your post there is a little button that sysa "edit" just hit that when you need to correct something in your post. If you look around a lot of my posts have been "corrected".

Anybody coming from the south who could drive a Rover to Rausch for me?
Follow-up Post:
Also, the park isn't usually open on the weekdays unless special arrangements are made. I have sent an email to Lynn informing her of the 10 for camping Friday and Saturday nights and I am awaiting her response as to how to get people into the park on Friday day (and evening).
How many people are likely to show up Friday to wheel, and what time?
Thanks for the input guys! I am really looking forward to the weekend, I only wish I could wheel with you more!

Tyler, let me know where you stand regarding driving up together (iether in your D90 or the LWB). I can give you a ride back if you take the LWB.
Either way, I will be arriving by 10am Friday, and camping Friday and Saturday nights.

Okay. I have spoken with Lynn. I have permission for any and all to go on the property Friday. I have the combination for the lock and she has requested that anyone who has not been there before sign a waiver (the papers are in a tool box next to the shed), and to please settle up with her on Saturday morning. Expired memberships, daily fees can either be taken care of Friday or Saturday. Camping areas along the Pole Line have been expanded so just stake out your area. They have even added Port-o-Johns for your convienence! There is another group due in Friday evening, so she said to leave the main gate open after you have go in Friday morning.
She asked that everyone travel in groups of 3 or more while on the property.
Now, who can I trust with the combination to the Magical World Of Rausch?

KO Sounds good Trevor, When you say shed you mean the one by the trails not the one at the ATV/bike park right? I don't remember but there are trails that are easy (Dave can take his truck and trailer down) to get to the camping area? You say camping by the pole line but looking at the map they show camping by the entrance?
http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/images/EAST.jpg
I know Dave can drive into that camping area, but I thought the trails to the pole line were all that smooth. Sorry for all the questions but you are the Rausach creek expert.:grin Oh you can trust me with the combo, you know I won't get to far until you get there to pull me out of the big mud hole again.:grin

That map shows new campgrounds along the powerline, near the entrance, that would be easy to get a trailer into. I also remember that Camp C is easy access from the unpaved access roads.
And yes, it is the shed at the 4x4 office, not the motocross office.
