Flex Fan for a 90

Does anyone make a flex fan for the 3.9? I hear they are cheaper and dont need a fan clutch.

the flexi-a-lite 210 is available through summit racing, also available is an override switch. i got it installed and it rocks. my radiator guy said it seemed like it was made for the d90.

I installed dual 12" Hayden electric fans. It only took an afternoon and it works great! No more clutch fan (which had a worn-out clutch for me), no chance of overheating due to low RPMs in stop-and-go hot weather traffic, and some measure of redundancy with two fans. This probably saves more HP by having less of a load on the engine.

I could have gone with one larger fan (14" is the biggest that will fit height-wise) but the dual 12" fans look like they were made for this radiator. I'm super-happy with the result.

I got a metal fan from Autozone for $24.95 (I think that's what you where asking about right?). The fan is an Imperial 220618 - that's the one for my multi-belt 4.2 - serpentine is the opposite version. It still uses the stock fan clutch but eliminates the exploding plastic fan. There is an aftermarket fan and clutch that fits - I think you'll find that info. with a quick search on Pirate.

If I were to install electric(s) I would definitely add a sensor circuit to warn me when one's dead. I don't know if that's a standard feature but it should be.

I thought about adding a sensor circuit and I might do that later. For now I figured having two fans would be good enough - slim chance of both failing at the same time and I think even one of these things could keep the engine cool (the two of them really cool it down quick once they fire up).

You will know when they stop, they are very noisy and you can hear them over the engine at idle, but I would wire each fan on it's own, so if you break one then the outher keeps going.

I got mine from the corner auto parts store - actually they are two single fans rather than one unit in a plastic housing. That is certainly a more involved installation in that writeup than need be, IMHO, though it is perhaps sturdier. The little fasteners that go through the radiator work fine & seem to hold the system in place nicely.

The included radiator-installed fan swich (thermostat - on at 189F, off at 168F) seems to work fine, though I'd like to change to one perhaps on the thermostat housing w/o giving up the air conditioner cutoff switch. Something to be worked out later.
