I am attempting to install a Smiths Dual Oil/Temp gauge. At the block there is a what appears to be a tappered female fitting, and the stock gauge line appears to be a flared female end. So I need some sort of male-male adapter. Anyone know the thread size of either?

Cheers!

Are you asking about the oil line or the temp capillary? The oil, as I recall, is 1/8" BSP. The temp depends on which gauge you have and I can't remember the sizes. I think the females were something like 3/8" but I'm not sure, and I can't find my old Smiths catalog at the moment.
On a side note, I like the metal oil pressure lines better than the plastic ones. Though I've used both the metal ones make me less nervous.

Sorry, talking about the oil line. Whatever the thread size it, one is tapered and the other is flare fitting. I need some sort of male-male fitting.

Sure, feel free to add that to your signature line. I'll be here all day for your amusement.

And to close the loop on this, I just used regular American fittings and forced things to work, Everything seems to be holding just fine.

I'm working on the same part right now. My metal line ruptured somewhere just behind the dash before it feeds the gauge.....great. The part I think you need is a through bolt for the hole in the oil line you have.
