I cant seem to get my CDL to engage. I can easily shift between lo-hi/CDL lo-high, But cdl is not engaging. I am sure it is not engaging due to the detroit not locking up.
I was having problems with it popping out while wheeling a few days ago, and then it wouldnt engage at all. :angry
This is on a 94 discovery with a 2in body lift.
P.S This started happening pretty much after the bodylift was put on, though it could have nothing to do with the problem :confused
Let me have any tips/suggestions as MAR is soon approaching and it would suck to not have CDL
Thanks

Did you Check the linkage?

The linkage moves, there doesnt appear to be anything visibly wrong. Am going to drench in pb blaster to loosen everything up, even though I can shift easily between hi/lo ect..
Follow-up Post:
Pb blasted everything, linkage/TC shifter shifts effortlessly. Linkage seems to be ok.(looks like it always has)
Is there a fuse/solenoid that activates the CDL?

There is no fuse that activates it, but there is an indicator light/sensor that is plugged in on top of the linkage--I would at least test that out and make sure it is not just your light---can you tell by driving whether or not it is engaged?

Hmmm, when you did the body lift did you extend the levers for the tranns and t-case? when you put the T-case in diff lock there is a spring that engages the diff, sometimes it need a little help you normally only have to drive a few inches to get it to engage. Since this started happening with the body lift I would think that it is interfering with the linkage it movement of the t-case lever. There is a small cover on the side of the t-case that can be removed so you can see the spring that engages the diff lock.

I have never seen a D-90 with a body lift? Do you have a picture?

I did put a t-case extension on the tc lever, so I am not sure whether or not that is the problem. And I did wheel some fight after the body lift and got cdl(but it did pop out once)
I usually did have to put it in drive to get the cdl to fully lock up, so maybe my spring isnt fully engaging.
Time to go look at that

I would bet your linkage is not moving the little stud sticking up out of the t-case enough, I would have someone move the lever in and out of lock while you watch it from the underside, then pull off the linkage and move it by hand with a wrench to see if you are fully moving things with the lever. This may be hard in the disco, I have watched it in the 90 but it is tight to get your head up there to see whats going on.

Well, I was messing around with the tc shifter loosening everything up with the pb blaster/trying one last attmept to get cld to engage, then something let go and I have no resistance what so ever in the tc shifter. :( Something in the linkage let go,so no cdl or hi/lo
I can see where the linkage is slipping to the cdl(there is a splined area that connects the vertical rod to the cdl nut/lever, and there is another linkage that is now hanging loose, which i am guessing is the hi/lo selector.
Never really paid much attention to working of the cdl/tc linkage before(since it has always worked) So I dont really have any idea how it works
Could anyone post a pic of a fully operational cdl/tc linkage(assuming it is relatively the same for a d-90/disco), it would be much appreciated :)
