I guess nobody is happy unless the are swapping things out or wrenching on something. We are ripping out our V-8's to put in a TD motor. I guess the grass is always greener or the sand is always browner on the other side of the fence. :)

or the petrol is always cheaper in Bahrain...

You could say a bit of both greener and browner.....Well about the price of pertrol its not as cheap as many would think. I don't use the car very often but I'm building a speed demon. The TD5 is powerful and consumption is very low. I need to hit speeds of 110 MPH!!! hence the V8. Is the swap from 3.9? You could benifit from this engine its nearly new.

I am interested in swapping out my 3.9 for a TDi300 or a TD5, but I wasn't planning to do that for a year or two due to other projects. About how much is shipping from Bahrain to Los Angeles? Can you just stick it on the deck of a tanker? :)

I am interested, but does anyone know if the gearbox will work in the current D90's.
I have a 94, and just replaced the whole gearbox and clutch.
Also will it fit into the D90 and basically "bolt on" without trouble. I do not want to get into fabricating mounting points etc...
Any word on the shipping?

It is not a drop in replacement.

I'll shoehorn it in for you. But It'll cost you.

Working on my project I took out the TD5 and did some minor changes. I had to remove the engine brackets and put in new ones. The other part of it was attaching to 3.9 to the R380 all I had to get was the gear shaft that came on the 3.9 R380 gearbox. I will include that shaft that I took out of the gearbox with the engine as I no longer need it.

I would not really know what it would cost to ship an engine to LA but I would recomend you shop around. I will make a couple calls around and see how much it would cost.

Where is your country? And what is your bottom dollar. How can you assure me that this is not some sort of a scam. Could we use a nuetral party to hold the money until I recieve the goods.

Please excuse me for being blunt. But I am sure anyone here is interested in the same thoughts when considering buying the engine from you. In fact if you can address some of this you may get the whole amount you are asking for.

The fact is you are not a business and you are in another country. So it is not like I can drive down to see you if there is a problem.

Its not a problem I don't mind the question I would have the same question. I assure you this is not a scam. I do have the engine and don't mind the neutral party holding goods until we recieve the goods. How does this neutral party work. I have heard some shipping companies that offer a service in which they deliver and pick up the payment from the buyer. Also it wouldn't be safe for me to fly an engine all the way to the US from Bahrain and ending up with someone who wasn't serious in the first place. Give me your thoughts on this matter and if we reach an agreement then we will proceed. I have 2 more offers and I am waiting for the one that will finish first and for the amount I have requested earlier.

That is kinda where I thought Bahrain was. Isn't there a large US military airport/base there?

I do not know of a shipping holding company to use. But if the seller or someone else here could point one out, I would be more interested in this engine for purchase. As would others here I assume.

Pendy there is a US base here...When I was in DC a couple of years back....I remember people asking me where I was from I always answer waiting for the question "where's that?" But sometimes people to shock you when they say that they've been there or people from the base that served there.....A lot of F1 fans would know Bahrain because it hosted the first F1 Grand Prix in April this year

I regards to the shipping company I would have to say I know that a company called Aramex works here and in the US.....If you contact the company and ask about the rate of shipping an engine from Bahrain to the U.S. I would suggest that for everyones else's security that you ask if they would pick up the payment from the buyer and to hand over the payment only when the engine is handed to shipping company. This will make both parties more secure about the purchase.

F1 huh. Seems like you are trying to build up an escort truck there Smokey and the Bandit. I bet that was an interesting event to have in your country.

Thanks for checking on a shipping company. I will check in with them over the next couple days.

Still interested, but I have some more questions and still need to get a shipping cost. Does the engine come with the wiring for the ECU/computer components? I am not sure what you mean by "minus the console wiring" - I have to have that ECU and any TD5-specific wiring.

I was told that if this engine came with the original bell housing it would bolt up to my R380 - are you including the bell housing? Need one for a 3.9? ;)

Also, what accessories come with this engine - full (aircon compressor, power steering, etc)?

The Engine is complete with all wiring ECU and bell housing. My 90 has a R380 I will also include the gear shaft (which is longer than the one that comes with on the V8)that will make the R380 that you have run with the TD5. What is happening here is that you are reversing everything I did. You will get all the ECU Wiring for the car What I am keeping is the wiring from the console to the ECU. This is the wiring that makes all the lights on the dash go Speedo etc. In terms of complete it is the complete engine + Bell housing + Gear Shaft + ECU+ Main Wiring Loom+ ECU. That is the complete Package. There was no aircon on my car all in all you will have 90% of what you need to run the engine on your car. Keep in mind that this engine has not done more than 19,000KMH. I have a 2004 car that has done more than that.

Thanks for the offer I already got the bell housing for the V8.
