NAS to a pick up top swap..

I Have always loved the way a pick up top looks.I was lucky enough to out the SD cage from Jase. I thought that would be the toughest part but once he said it was still for sale I had to have.I then set about looking for a top.As always the guys on this board stepped up with their offerings and I appreciate everyone's help.In the end I was lucky enough to find one with really low miles from ECR.As most of you know I have Mike Hipperts old D90 and as most of you know it's had a very hard life,that being said I was very surprised on how little rust there was on the truck and all the nuts and bolts cam off with relative ease.I was able to remove the NAS cage in one piece.I also removed the bar that crosses behind the seats and the cage supports under the front wings.I ended up making my own rear bulkhead out of .80 aluminum.I made it in three pieces a right and left with a one piece capping to tie it all in.all held together with rivets. I could not bring myself to cut or remove any of the capping, so this was built on top of it.

I love it. Any plans for a rollbar/cage of some sort? I'm guessing not since you removed the front portion of the NAS cage too, but just wondering.

I took out the lower cave mounts and sand blasted them etching primer and painted them.I put them back in because I need to fab up a mounting bracer because the new cage is 3" narrower .I didn't want to cut new holes in the truck.
The cage came from Jase..here is a pic.

I was going to spray the cardboard with bed liner but that didn't go over very well.

Looks nice, I was going to do that to my old 110 until I sat in one. Being 6'2" doesn't work in a Land Rover pickup cab.

I think it depends on the seats. I am 6ft 3 and I could fit into my 109 pickup cab pretty well. I had a set of VW recaros in it, they had very thin seat backs and a very thin seat height, but it was still a hunchback driving position. For wheeling a pickup cab can't be beat and the heat in the winter is unreal, but it's tight and some can't get used to it/plain don't fit.

Lack of space is one of the reasons I am building a crew cab, the extra 4 inches of seat rail I can use makes all the difference...\
