PCV Valve diaphram cover

I seem to have lost the round metal covers that go over the diaphrams on both of my series trucks. I can't find them other than by purchasing the entire valve assembly. Are they just round discs that I could fab up or are they more invloved?

They are quite bit more involved. Not only are they round but they have a small hole drilled in them as well.

You might want to farm that part out.

So what would be the disadvantage of skiping the valve and tying into the intake hose between the air filter and carb? Too much suction?

the PCV valves are designed to close at idle and during other periods of high vacuum. That prevents a large vacuum leak at idle. During the application of throttle when vacuum is lower and crankcase pressure is rising, the pressure of the crankcase gasses pushes the PCV valve open and alllows the blow-by gasses to be burned in along with the air fuel mixture.

you should be able to use any inline PCV valve. Just make sure it goes the right way around and check it often because they do start to leak, not sure why but they do.
