Well I have had this series 2a laying around for a while now waiting to get around to building a fun relaible good looking older rover..I bought it because it had a really good chassis and body and it had already been stripped and sanblasted... I finally thought okay..I have a 2.5 NA diesel engine and a 5 speed late model defender tranny and was parting out a series 3 109 so I thought okay...time to get off my fat aussie ass and get her underway... removed the body from the chassis completely and disassembled everything... decided on Arles Blue as the colour with some black trim and some pieces in shiny aluminum checker plate..

Due to land rover scumbag lawyers they classified me as unfair competition and I had to shut down the website and cease using the business name of The Rover Shop.. Had a customer walk in the other week and saw the truck unfinished and simply had to have it so a price was agreed upon and now I have to bust ass to finish it as well as other projects before the trip of a lifetime begins.. Have a bunch of pics and will be putting them on another thread like the camel build thread...

Yep, happened in Britain a good few years back... if you weren't a main dealer you couldn't have rover or land rover in your company name.

At first I was bitterly against this, and I still somewhat still am, but it dawned on me that there are no "Ford Repair Shop" or similar named companies running around out there not affiliated with the parent company, so I guess it makes sense. Though in reality I think it should be more related to the full use of the term "Land Rover" than just the slang 'Rover' word.

Just rename it the Land Lover shop. Rand Lover wouldn't work.

Yeah he's Australian and not South African. Common mistake though :)

The word rover has 44 different meanings in the English language.. One of them being a transient Australian worker....... Me to a tee...

There are tons of Jeep businesses with Jeep in the name, including my resto business. No one is hassled by Jeep for this. The only hassle I got was using a red cross in my logo and I got hate mail from the Red Cross.

Several Ford Bronco business come to mind too.
