Carbon Monoxide was fine, but Hydrocarbons were a couple hundred PPM too high.

Pushing about 83,000 on the D-90.

Not too familiar with emissions stuff, suggestions?

Are your cats ok? And run some Seafoam through the engine.

Not an expert by any stretch of the mind, but when my friend's bronco II didn't pass his emissions test we ran higher octane gas for a tank. He passed the test the next day. Just a shot....

Take a piece of cardboard the size of a shoebox and paint it black, then tape it to the front of the radiator. Drive around untill the water temp is semi-close to the red. Take it in to test, you will pass with flying colors. Then remove as fast as possible.

I don't know how close you are to passing but I would also suggest Seafoam and drive it hard for a few days at hight rpm. These engines are meant to be driven at highter rpm's but everybody seems to lug them including me, I have to remember to rev it up every once and awhile. Give it a shot. Good luck.

Have heard that adding some denatured alcohol to the tank will also reduce emmissions. And running it HOT at the test helps too. Here's what goes around in the back of mind mind as the final solution: Find a garage that also has an associated test facility, get some cash in someone's palm and have them put that probe up the exhaust of a Honda Civic. ;) Of course, I would never, ever do this. Never....

Check the distributor centrifugal advance to make sure it is not stuck...also look at the vacuum advance and make sure that it is not blown. Have run into this a few times causing failed emissions.
