I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a safety devices, full external cage for my D90?? Something like the attached D90 pic.
I'm thinking of going the external route so I could have the best of both worlds.... metal hard top and open air in the summer!
I've just started calling around. According to SD's website AB is a dealer, but that's not the case any more. I guess I'll call SD direct.
Any input is greatly appreciated...
Cheers,

I would have one made. You can get a good fabricator to make one custom for you for way less and it will actually work if you do roll. I had this one made for pretty cheap, not done yet but shows what is possible.

Try Expedition Exchange (https://www.expeditionexchange.com/safetydevices/). It's a special order. Just put an order in on one from them last Tuesday. There is also Thatched Roof Garage (http://www.thatchedroofgarage.com/safety_devices_products.htm) if you're looking for a shop that is closer to you. It should not really matter, items like this are usually drop-shipped from the warehouse anyway. EE is a great shop and can only vouch for them. I have not had a need to deal with TRG yet.

Thatched Roof Garage is legit too. I purchased my SD rack and other goods from them. Their is a place in NJ that imports their stuff too. I'd say work with whomever your comfortable with. If you get a price on the cage, post back. I'd like to see what they run...

go for it. I looked at this POE when I was gonna get a 90 it was at BVLR, the interior was pretty butchered but other than that it was nice.. I am not sure if it is a SD cage.

Yup, that's the SD cage.
That's the rig with the rear winch, right? Interesting rig.

Does anyone have an idea as to how much one of those run??
I'm really liking the idea of the external cage. Then in the summer take the HT off. Of course then I'd give Chris at Badger a call and design some soft top for it....
On a side note....
A friend of mine has a J33p GrandCh3rok33. Yeah he's jealous!!! Loves the fact that the D90 can be completely taken apart.....
Love my D90!!!

I just placed an order for the SD Cage..... Spoke with the numerously recommended Stable Energies.
Laurette was extremely helpful in the decision and order process. They should have a container coming either before or after the holidays....
price for the full external cage $1849.

Thanks for this subject. I have a 110, 1986 vintage, and want an external roll cage for it. For whatever reason, I can't get Thatched Roof Garage to either return a telephone call or an email.
Did an email last week and several voicemails about 3 months ago. TRG is the closest Safety Devices dealer to me and I'd like to do business with them for the convenience factor, but my general impression from their lack of responsiveness is that they either: (i) don't have what I want in stock, or (ii) don't give a damn, or (iii) both. Please advise if I am wrong and whether it is worth the trouble to seek this shop out any further. I even emailed the factory in England and got no response. Does it sound like I'm frustrated? Is anyone listening???

James, I have had the same problem as you. I have tried contacting them since June, and nobody has replied to my messages. I would just go ahead and order from Stable Energies. I am ordering from them next week.

I think contacting TRG is hit or miss. I've done some business with them (David) and he was great. But sometimes getting a hold of them or waiting for a response was a problem.

Anyone know anything about that SD rear tire carrier? Is it just a mantec or does SD make their own? It doesn't look like a Bearmach carrier...

Looks to be the same unit as the Mantec one I have. Mounts are the exact same, as is the tube bends and back plate.

It's the exact same carrier. This is where I bought mine and its clearly labled "Mantec."
