NICE! The pic in the middle looks like you are at a real bad side slope! Even the trees are growing sideways!

If I remember correctly my lev-o-gauge was at 40+. I think adding anti-rock in the back will help a lot since coil overs do nothing when it comes to off camber sections. Notice the Yellow D90 taking the same line with way less body roll, oh wait there was no body roll :)

Hey Keith, you see what you missed? Get the Disco running, we will be there next weekend again :)

It looks much worse in person. This is one of 6 damages by that one obstacle but it is the biggest though.

Sorry I missed you yesterday, Yousef--I had a great time with some Yoda's doing the trail, though. I bashed my frame hard enough to put a nice dent and bow the sides a little right between the front and rear trailing arms. I am going to weld some 1/4" steel along the frame rails to prevent future "carnage"...ALMOST got up the waterfall---next time!

Mike, no the door wasn't shut all the way.

Which line did you take on the waterfall Chris? far right? middle? I tried the far right two years ago and my D90 did not fit, in fact it dented my front right fender :( Last year I tried the center line and also failed. No lockers nor enough low gearing. I might give it a try this weekend.

Yousef, I am waiting for a 44inch anti rock. I have a great plan for mounting to the rear. I will hopefully get the thing in and tested next week. I will take shots of the modifications and install. And pics of the articulation before and after. JP

Yousef==I took the line on the right--I scrapped up the front passengers fender flare and realized that the only way up was to bump up with a little momentum-- at that point my spotter asked how I liked my door handle (if I wanted it to stay attached or not)--which is why I bailed. Unfortunately the rock on the right angles in at the base so that the bodywork would take the hit before my sliders. If I could get turned just a hair to the left, I think I could clear it with a little bump. I might meet you up there Saturday, if that is when you go.

Soon I hope. First I need to buy the tow rig along with the 5th wheel enclosed trailer but can not do that till my divorce is final. Let me take care of that first and then I'll let you know.

Chris, I made the waterfall this time w/o any body damage. However, I took a bit harder line to avoid the body damage on that section. I tried the center section (Wall) made it up but I kept hopping the D90, which cause my front tires to go air born thus no traction up front.

Killed my sliders and more body damage. Fun time.

No, amazingly the parking lights provided some light and the moonlight helped a little too. I could see the rocks but when in doubts I would use my passing lights or flashlights. I'll be doing another night run when both D90's are running again.

Been trying to talk the fiance` into a hard top. She can't drive a manual so it'll have to be a '97. Funny part is, she's "actively" looking for one and her parents want a 110 now that they've seen my 90.

She thought about selling her D90 and buy a 110 since I have a ST. I took her to test drive a custom built 110 with TDI but she thought it was too big, which I agree. Then I talked to her about getting a SW but she hates SW's, which I do to. So she is keeping her Buttercup for now :)

BTW, hers is a stick and she wheels the crap out of it but still cannot keep up with me. However, she'll out wheel a big percentage of D90 owners :grin :naughty

Wow, I like the tire carrier better on da yellow 90. The driver of the yellow 90 seems to know how to drive allot better then you Yousef.:grin And who's Idea was it to put BF MT's on the yellow 90?

TwisteD90
April 11th, 2005, 01:30 PM
JP, I'll post pictures soon. The cage was done by Rover Tracks. However, Keith did not build the cage, it was Justin. He does some work for him; he is the guy wearing red fleece in the pictures. The cage is one full piece, lighter weight, and a tiny bit lower than stock. After removing the rear tire carrier, putting the tire in the back, redialing the coil overs, the D is a beast it just keeps climbing.

Mike, I did not choose those tires. I mean I have nothing against BFG MT but that size is a poser size in my mind. It's more like you care about LR image more than off road performance. Let the flaming begin :grin

So then do I see some 38's for her soon? :) AndI think you really need to test the new cage!

TwisteD90
April 11th, 2005, 03:08 PM
No, she won't let me cut up buttercup. However, I'm planning for a set of 35-36, 4.75, ARB for the rear to go along with front 4.75, ARB, HD axles that I'm giving her :) She gave me the OK to replace/sell anything off her truck as long as she doesn't have to pay any $$. She doesn't know what's coming her way :naughty

I did hit the cage three times hard. I push it hard and was expecting a roll over but the sucker won't go over.

Mike Hippert
April 11th, 2005, 03:25 PM
What tires is she going to run? MTRs or Blue Krawlers? And why 4.75s! THat is way to low for 35s, I know thats what you will be pulling out of yours but chang the gears to 4.10s and keep it driveable on the road!

Have you not seen my excel sheet? http://www.d-90.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2930

TwisteD90
April 11th, 2005, 05:09 PM
No idea on what tire yet. It could go from BFG MT to Super Swampers. Her truck needs a low gearing bad, it's really under powered, so 4.75 and 35's should be good. Plus we alreay have the front so it would be better if we go with 4.75 rear. However, there is a good chance that I might go with Toy stuff!

Hi Yousef,

Ben here. I just wanted to say thanks for taking me wheeling at Carnage. It was great to see what CO/US wheeling is about. I had a great time.

I had fun getting from Denver to ATlanta the next day. My flight was cancelled because of the snow, and I needed to get there quickly so I ended up hiring another car and driving!!!

Let me know when you are coming to OZ and I can organise some wheeling for you.

And thanks to Keith for Rovertracks for sorting out my Rover shopping list!!!

Glad you had fun. We were worried about your flight since all flights were canceled. Glad to know you made it fine.

Yes, my daughter studied about OZ and she really wants to go so I promised her that I'll take her to OZ soon. Also my son keep telling me that when I take them to OZ he wants to listen to that song (we come from a land down under) or some thing like that and he wants to chase some kangaroos at the same time :) Also I want to try your famous cookies, Mike Hippert baked some for us and it was great, but I’m sure it’ll taste better there (no offense Mike). So I’ll take you up on the offer and I will let you know when we will be there.

I think you mean ANZAC biscuits? 3-6" diameter and flat? Asking for "cookies" in OZ will probably get you blank looks. ANZAC Day is the 25th of April, so that would be the best time of year to get really good ANZAC biscuits. But my wife has a pretty good recipe if you want it.

The best wheeling in OZ in South east Queensland/Northern New South Wales (About the middle of the east coast). Further south (Victoria) there is lots of mud and not as many rocks.

If you drive up and down the highways your son will see a lot of roadkill Kangaroos, but they don't run when you try to chase them :) .

Oh great, here goes his dream! I'm sure he will be thrilled when he sees one :) The live ones will run (jump) if you try and chase them, but if you are in a truck they are just as likely to jump towards the truck rather than away from it - so it isn't advisable. Hitting a fully grown kangaroo is like hitting a moose or a deer.

Over the years I have had one collision and one very near miss in the 110 - in both cases the kangaroo/wallaby decided to be suicidal and jump towards the truck rather than away. Fortunately they usually seem to be scared away by the noise from the ISUZU tractor engine. And the IIA doesn't go fast enough to collide with kangaroos :grin.
