Just out of curiousity how many of you waited in line at midnight to either buy a copy of Halo 2 for your own enjoyment or waited in line with someone under 17 to buy a copy.

As I waited in line with my 14 year Brother-in-Law I couldn't believe my eyes when over 300 people showed up at the game store to buy a video gamea t MIDNIGHT. Nothing like a bunch of amped up 18-22 years drinking cases of Mountain Dew and eating In-n-Out hamburgers at midnight talking about how killer the new weapons will be to make you realize that you are all grown up now.

MY brother waited (he's 22 I'm 25), then when he got home at 12:45 we played until 3 am when he said he needs to go to bed to get up at 9 am, I said yeah I nned to be up at 6:30, I really thought about pulling an all nighter and just not sleeping.

If you haven't played either Halo 1 or 2 then you are missing out, the best part is playing multi player against you friends. I have friends in their 40s that love it! And if you are like us we get 4 TVs 4 Xboxes and a Hub and 16 of us play all at once for 5 or 6 hours. Even if you suck at video games it is a BLAST! Almost as good as wheeling the 90!

My room mate did the same thing. Said there were like 200 or more people waiting for it. Almost as bad as it was to go see the new star wars movies at midnight when they were first showed. I was always a fan of Golden Eye on N64. guess i never upgraded.

A few highlights, the warthog has a handbrake so you can power slide, dual machine guns, you can now pick up the sword that the super powerful elite guy carries, but he is very tuff. Elite pull you out of the wart hog, but you can pull them out of the ghosts. The warthog gets busted up looking and catches fire but it just keeps going (I relate it to a Rover). Your shield is stronger and comes back faster. You can jump higher. All this and we only got into the second level!

Just got back from a couple hours of play... Absolutely incredible, I think my Halo1 skills will carry on (which were immense) haha...


Mike, If I'm ever at my Uncle's place on Mascoma Lake in NH, we'll have to get together so I can 'spank' you at H2.

Really though, the game rules. We're already taunting eachother at work.

Truly revolutionary game, for those who aren't into 'video games'... Sadly, it's the 'last' XBOX game worth a damn.

I hear what you're saying about the time lapse... just last week we were playing multiplayer Halo1 and I looked at my clock and 3 YEARS had passed. Seriously. That's how much we played that game.

For those who don't know, just go to Google and type in 'Halo 2'. Or try Xbox.com but that's getting wailed on right about now, i could barely pull anything up.

what about the XBOX Live integration? I don't have Halo2 yet, but isn't it 'Live' enabled now... We could have a D-90 source worldwide azz kicking event! We don't have to be system linked for that, right? I haven't played my XBOX in months, and I wasn't that good on Halo anyway, but I'd enjoy being target practice for you younger wipper snappers :grin

You're right, XBOX live is cool, and would be a great time with fellow D90-Sourcerers, and No, you don't need to be linked for that, you just need a subscription to XBOX live.
I think online play is cool, but I don't do it much... I like to play through the Campaign (the single player) and when I play multiplayer I like to see the look on my friend's faces when I punk them out...lol... There's something about not knowing 'who' my opponent is that keeps me offline most of the time... just my opinion though.

And who you calling young ? I'm probably older than you... haha.... I never stopped playing though, from way back...

Yeah we have played online, it kinda sucks though. Like I said I'm OK at the game, but my friends are very very good, when we play online we play a few teams then no one wants to play us. So we resign on with a name like 4 chicks looking for fun, then we can't turn them away. After playing for 30 seconds they are dumbfouned that they are getting there azzes handed to them by chicks and they quit out.:naughty

Oh no amount of practis is going to make me better then someone who plays games for 4+ hours everday.

The D-90 live thing sounds cool, I don't have live but my friend does.
Oh and Chris, I have my way with dealing with snipers. Most of the time it involves melee them from behind.:sneaky

I finished it a couple of nights ago and am now playing online like crazy. It's driving my wife nuts. I move the easychair directly in front/middle of the 55"HDTV and go to town for hours. Yes, but the frogs shoot at you, and you shoot back, and they are not frogs, they are aliens, walking dead. You still jump, but it is to avoid getting hit by a hunter (Very big alien with a very big gun). Other then that it is pretty much the same thing.

About 1.5 years ago I bought an xbox and Halo because of the comments I read on the d-90 source about how great the game was.

I just returned from the gaming store with a copy of Halo 2. Can't wait to build some new blisters!

When I get my LIVE account up, and I practice Halo2 some more (I've been on vacation almost 2 weeks with no XBOX ) I'll be on there.

Interesting fact that Halo2 on it's very first day of sales beat every single entertainment venue out there for sales... 125 MILLION DOLLARS. Yeah, child's play right ? The age demographic keeps climbing...

Also, one thing that I don't like about the game compared to Halo1 is that the multiplayer maps are generally for online play, or serious multiplayer... say 4+... When you're just hanging out with a friend a shooting 'em up, it kind of gets boring because the maps are so huge... THAT is how they TRAP you into paying for XBOX LIVE. Like I said earlier in this post, I like to see the whites of their eyes when I smack them down...lol...

Anyway...

Another game I just booted up when I got back on my PC is HALF-LIFE2, that is insane... but you need a FAT graphics card to run it, it's HUGE. I run a 9800XT and the game beats the piss out of it.

no guarantees. my room mate is trying it out now. i have also been told if you have the rocket launcher and the sword, you can lock on with the rocket launcher then switch to the sword and it will fly you all the way to that person and kill them.

I kind of understand the theory of how they are doing that. A buddy of mine can do it a slightly differant way but has only been able to cross boards and not really fly to higher positions.

We'll see what new boards come out in Halo 2.5 later this year. Going to be the next part with new levels and more LIVE boards as well as the end of the story line of the campain play. Halo 3 is slated for next Xmas to take a bite out of Playstation3's release.

I totally agree. I'm sorry to say that I haven't been on LIVE yet, I was playing Half-Life 2 for a while but then we went to Greece, then I started tiling my bathrooms, now I'm putting wood floors in, along with looking at an engagement ring for my other half, and now the D90 is in the shop. FIRST TIME I might add...lol. It was nothing big, just a coil wire that broke off, so I'm having them do a couple of other 'tings that I just don't have any freaking time to do. (speedo/e-brake tightening).

I will try to get on at some point... God knows I miss it.

I've been playing Gears of War. Holy shit. I'm so die hard Halo that it's hard for me to get into other shooters, but man this game rocks so far. I've never seen something that looks so good, and I'm not even seeing in High Def. Ridiculous.

I definitely feel safe recommending Gears of War, just for the campaign. I haven't fooled around with the multiplayer stuff yet. Though, I have done the online multiplayer campaign with a buddy of mine -- that's a great new feature.

When I went to Best Buy lastnight to pick up Gears of War, there were 7 tents lined up along the front side next to the entrance. The weather has been crappy and the PS3 isn't even available until Friday. That's some die-hard commitment for a $600 gaming console. Makes me wonder what those people (not sure if there were kids or what) do for a living, that they could take off 3 days from work, to sit in some miserable weather waiting for a gaming unit that already has issues and a video card that's no longer the latest and greatest. :hmm

Right now, the only thing/person I'd do that for is Jessica Alba. Who am I kidding, I'd do just about anything for her! :grin

I played some more Gears of War last night (til about 4:00 a.m., lol). It's a great game -- it keeps getting more and more interesting, and they do a good job of switching things up so that play doesn't get monotonous.

I messed around with the online multiplayer. For someone who is used to Halo, this is definitely different. Shorter games, not as easy to hook up with a buddy and find some games. But it's interesting nonetheless.

I read an article yesterday talking about how the PS3 is going to suffer from waiting to use the Blueray (or whatever) technology for the HD-DVD. It caused significant delays, and they won't have many units to ship before this christmas. So, 360 will have a two holiday headstart on them. 360 will soon be offering a HD-DVD drive as well -- should be interesting how the market share battle between these two turn out.

For me the decision was easy -- Halo 3 and 360.

Chris, don't sell it now! The games are just starting to take advantage of the new system.

With the Nintendo Wii hot on the PS3 tail and at an affordable price, the PS3 is going to suffer...another mini-disk fiasco!?!?!...maybe. They might be the king of consoles, but the arragonce of price and the issues they are having with these new systems already may set them back initially.

I think the prices are so high on these new consoles because the manufacturers are trying to place them in the market not only as gaming consoles, but also home entertainment items. Xbox 360 can do all sorts of cool wireless shit with your home network, if you have the right operating system. You can wirelessly connect to any home computer and listen to music through your home entertainment system, or watch movies and video, look at pictures, etc.

I just don't know if that will ever catch on, at least enough to justify the higher prices.

I'm a gaming junkie, though, so while the price stings a little bit, I have no choice. Small price to pay for stress relief...
