Anyone know difference in this co's plate Vs Genuine?

i.e. the pcs on the 97 limiteds (wings / sills etc . . )

Genuine will have a green & white sticker on the back...

Seriously, the genuine will have hardware and some strategically placed foam bits for padding, but other than that its the same stuff.

Rebel4x4.co.uk has a similar line that looks a little cheaper across the board. Many places will offer a choice of 2 or 3 mm plate.

I was just told a bit ago the Genuine had a different pattern. That true?

Also, the genuine was available in Black that I think may be anodized . . the UK vendor I posted is powder coat.

As far as hardware, seems that riveting would be best mount. I mean your not going to take it off.

Considering going to a plate "limited" trim package but in black and use limited steps but anodize black as well.

Just trying to find best value and quality. Great deal of work getting this girl back to "like new" and want her to be really sharp.

I shelled out the extra cash for the Genuine and was glad I did. Talk to Mike at West Chester Rovers - he had a complete set of black adonized ones a while back that seemed reasonable. If you are spending all the time and money to make it look new use the genuine ones. My $.02.

I have genuine LR black (anodized) on my truck. It has all faded to a gun-metal color in less than 1 year - but I actually really like it that way. Dont get anodized genuine if you want it to remain deep black forever.

Note: the rep from the UK company I noted above claims "you would not be able to tell difference side by side" - only no foam or hardware. They powder cost Vs Anodize the black. I do like the Xmbr cover they have.

Actually, why not get the silver set and have everything anodized a gunmetal color at the same time? Everything will look the same and should look great. What I discovered after mine faded was that it was the same color as the "V8" on the side and the "Land Rover" on the front - plus now its not nearly as "contrasty" as the black, and the white doesnt look as good with light colored trucks like my yellow and your white.

I havent used them, but have heard good things. Also many suppliers to the paintball gun scene do anodizing.

I am envious of your extensive restorations. :cool: I was just curious of the next step. Nothing less, nothing more. But it is very cool that it'll be out on the trail looking great.

I avoid the mud pits and deep fording as well. I did drive down a river for quite some way. They told us it was the "trail" and lo and behold the Jeepers were right. It was fairly shallow though.

There's a 90 I saw on the www with chromed OEM wheels. I am holding out for beadlock spinners myself. :)

Re Plerthee Plate

Hi Larry,

Our wing tops are are an identical shape and design to the original wing tops, if you were to put them side by side you could not tell the difference.

By the time you add in all the pieces, shipping and the euro>dollar coversion - cost is about the same.

I checked out that plerthee website, the OEM wingtops are different than theirs. Everyone who makes non OEM wing tops does the same thing, the drill holes all down the sides for mounting, which means you then have to drill multiple holes into your truck (the fewer hole you put in your truck, the better). The OEM have three holes, two in the front and one in the back, they also use an adhesive pad under the plate to hold it in place and prevent vibration noise. They are stuck on there so well, you really don't even need the bolts. If you can get the OEM, you should (especially since you are spending all that time and money to make it look correct). As far as finding some0one to do the anodizing, you probably can find someone local that you can just drop them off with. Why spend money shipping it to and from, call a metal supply house and ask them if they know anyone. Just trying to help

I agree re the plate. Seems to be the general opinion but wanted to inquire. Seems a few folks want to know what is best so maybe thread helped.

Color seems to be the only issue left . . . .might just have to do custom as Jim suggested.

RN has a decent package on set and can get black. Then will just have to coat ltd steps

However, wife thinks I should just use the plated steps anodized black and no plate on the body. . . . She's put up with alot of Rovers :)
