Hello,
I may fit a Mantec tire carrier on my '97 SW. It would be great to see an example of one already fitted to a truck, so if anyone has one and lives or works in Orange County, CA let me know if you don't mind me coming by to have a look. I know John Lee has one in LA, so I might try that option.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Phil, anyway you can put up another shot of the mantec with more of the rear passenger side in there? I'm wondering how you treated the area where the POE carrier was mounted. Thanks!

just another stupid question :stick
Will the Mantec mount if you have rear lamp guards. I assume it will but it looks close so . . .

Yes. No problem on my 97 with the guards installed. They're close, but nothing to even remotely worry about. The Mantec would compliment the new door rather well. Just take your time drilling out the holes and removing the door trim on the interior.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the lamp guard info. How about the red, rectangular reflector attached to the rear cross member ('97 SW). Did you have to remove the reflector to fit the Mantec? Thanks, Dave.

Yes. The reflector is only held in with snaps. Just be careful when you pry it out. The lower carrier mount will reside there. The cross member looks better without the reflectors anyways.

Better without the reflectors? Until someone rearends ya at night :cry . Just like those reflectors on your highend mtnbike. None of them seem to stay on very long. About as long as it take sto get home.

I think he actually wanted to see it *in person* in Orange County.
I was thinking of replacing mine as well w/ one that can also hold an optional hi-lift. Land Rover International, or the other LR monthly (forget the name), had a good write-up comparing the several aftermarket rear tire carrier options -- check it out. They are all reviewed w/ a list of pros and cons.
