Here's a link to some photo's my buddy took this weekend at the Solaros SAE in Georgia. First few are from the ride up in the RV, lots of pretty good stuff, it was really a good time. A few from the cabin, etc.

Wait for all the thumbnails to load on the page (the three columns will move together to the left) then click on a thumbnail to view the large image. The image will appear (sometimes slowly) on the screen where you clicked. You can drag the loaded image to center it in your browser for better viewing. Then click any other thumbnail on the main page to close the large image.

yeah, that bumper's a little excessive, he tends to drag it on things! You could pretty much recover a bus with it though.

In general, I wheel with lots of RR Classics... seems to be the vehicle of choice down here in FL.

Cool... I know he was there. He let his 11 year old drive the RR into a tree Sat night... He's crazy. But I guess you've got to be a little nuts to but bumpers like that on a RR!

Great photos Dave. I like the looks of your truck. What tires/rims are you running? How did those tires do on the ride from Tampa up there?

Thanks Rick. The tires are 34/10.5 super swamper LTB TSLs on Safari Gard 15x8 rims (bought used). But I cheated and drove up to Georgia on my old 255/85's.

I'm working through a mean wheel bounce on the swampers over 55-60 mph, I think I've isolated it to one of the tires (that I now run on the rear). I'm hoping to get it replaced soon. Other than the bounce, the tires really aren't that bad. The bias ply makes them flat spot a little over night, etc, but that works out in a couple miles. Of course they're loud as all heck, but I don't care about that, I don't drive the truck every day.

I just hope the dealer can see that one of them's out of round and is willing to replace it, as I really think the bounce I'm getting is more than normal for swampers.

I'm tired of mud anyway.... takes too long to clean up! As long as there are HILLS. Man do I miss that. It just so darn flat down here!

What's the deal with chains... do I need them for any offroad snow driving? Where do I get some that will fit my oversized tires? what kind of $$$ are we talking?

Are Florida Rd and MaBell snow covered all winter (requiring chains)?

I'm not sure if the chains will keep me from winter runs, or just the cold! Going to take a while for my Florida blood to thicken up.

Well, I wouldn't say they are necessary, But I would think for $200 for all 4 wheels, they are something you want. You can get them from Burke (www.bb4wa.com).

FL road actually "closes" for the winter months. Ma Bell is open and will be snow covered.

If you spin your tires fast enough it melts the snow so you don't need chains. And if you are lucky (or maybe unlucky) your engine runs hot and it melts the snow if you are stuck long enough.:grin Have you used chains before Dave? Do they help alot? I saw a truck trying to climb over some rocks once and he had chains on, the chains made it real hard.
