Are there any aftermarket rear bumpers to replace that rear step thing. Aside from taking it off an adding bumperettes.

The bumper on the NAS d-90's in considered after market in the rest of the world since it was designed by safety Devices exclusively for our market.

I have seen recently in LRM a new full size bumper with a winch pocket, similar in size to the SD one you have now, made in the UK. It looks enormous though.

A few other people have had rear bumpers/bumperettes made up by $G and Rockware. Scorpion racing has a nice bumperette as well for short money (www.4x4ag.com). You can combine this with a hitch mount like those of $G and Rover accessories. Add a dixon bate and your styling.

I guess the question is what do you want the bumper for? Normal 90s don't have rear bumpers. Do you want a step for people getting into and out of the back or is it for collision protection or something else??

Dave, do you have the Scorpion bumperettes? I've probably asked you that before... If so, do they work, have you 'tested' their strength at all?

Yup, I have them. Don't think we talked about it. I have "tested" them. However that is always subject to the circumstances. I will just say they have done very well so far. I have no complaints.

How about that? :grin

did you have to ditch the Yakima?

Yes, I went with the spare tire mounted Yakima instead. That way I can leave it on for offroading rather than removing it every time I go somewhere. I hated the hitch mounted version. It vibrated, made too much noise and was heavy.

Dunno, never tried to see if it would handle clearing the spare with the new hitch. I don't think it would of. Either way, I still didn't like it.

The Mantec handles it just fine. I've had zero issues although the most bikes I've ever put on it were three.
