Hey'
I replaced my amplifier and coil yesterday and we seem to be running well again. When I unbolted and pulled out the coil, a diode with a wire coming out of it and a connector on the end fell out from underneath the bracket. I don't think it was plugged into anything. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks.

PS We rode home from Encenada last weekend amongst a bunch of the trucks who ran in the Baja 1000. Unbelivable machines. Has anyone seen them in action or think a D-90 has a chance to get there.

I don't remeber there being a diode on mine, I'll check the book tonight if no one else knows. BTW HBD!

LOL, I didn't see anything about a diode on the coil in the manual. But it did say the coil is sealed and to never open it due to chemicals in it.

Thanks for looking Mike. I think I may have led you in the wrong direction. This is just a small piece (camera battery size) with a black wire coming out of the center and a connector at the end. It was stationed behind the bracket near the amplifier and I think and says something about OHMs on it.
Sorry, I don't know what a diode is! It just came out!

HHMMM???? :confused What is it shaped like? it could be a cap or a resistor. I'm going out to look at my 90 to see if there is aything like it.

OK, I looked, there is a small gray cylinder with a black wire that connects to one of the terminals on the coil. The side that does not have the wire coming out of it is mounted to the mounting bracket of the coil. I would guess that it is a bleed off resistor so there is no high voltage present when the engine is off. i did not see anything written on mine. What exactly did it say on yours?

A cylinder shape....3/4"x1/2"......Silver metal.....bracket underneath that went under the bolt that holds the coil on.....black plastic on the top of the cylinder with a 4" black wire comming out of the center and a bent male connector at the end.....

Yes! That's it! I don't have any terminals left though. Should I double up? I remember one side of the coil being labled with a 1 and the other with a 15. One side was white, the other black.

It goes on the + side. my ciol has a + and - no #s. With the engine runninty you should measure 12 volts on the + side, I still don't know what it is though.

Its for the radio to reduce the engine wine noise.

That's what my dealer friend just told me too. My radio isn't working right now. It has - - - - showing, hold the band button in until it says enter code was also his reccomendation.

He said it may have plugged into my old amplifier but not the new one.
Can I just add it to one of the positive terminals?

OK, then it is probly a capacitor. It will pass high frequency RF to ground while not passing DC. So yes you can connect it.
