So... my steps are rusted out finally

I knew it was coming, my Land Rover running board style steps are bad enough to unbolt and trash finally.

So this poses the question, what do I bolt on in their place?

I'm thinking maybe some sliders, but my wife has short legs, so steps might be a necessity. decisions decisions.

What are some recommended sliders for a D-90 anyways? I noticed Expedition Exchange no longer lists their Dreadnaughts, and I refuse to give Safari Gard any of my money with the way they've treated a lot of folks here.

Get sliders and carry a plastic milk crate for her to use as a step! It worked for my 4'10" Grandma! :cool:

I would check out the Bill Burk sliders or Dave Lucas's sliders. If you come out wheeling with us next weekend you will be able to get a good look at allot of different sliders!

Get the slider's, my wife is 5' and the truck has 2" lift with 33" tires, she can make it in. She has to use the handle on the dash, but whatever works. Bill's sliders are nice, Mantec too. I have the Mantec, recently was on a trip and clipped a rock so hard it jumped the truck about 10" to the side. Other than the chunk taken out of the side of the slider, everything was all good. They are solid, didn't push up into the body at all.

4x4ag.com has some rock/tree sliders with a psuedostep on them. It's what I plan on replacing with for the same reason.

I second Jesse's post. They have a nice step on the slider for additional protection. But they do stick out a bit. Pic of the Scorpion slider, from 4x4ag, below.

I'm actually going with a set from Dave Lucas. He's going to add a piece of square stock to the slider as a step, for some of the shorter ladies getting in and out of the D90. I'll take a pic of mine when I get 'em.

I like the factory "steps" not running boards. I have seen them for $50 on ebay now and again.

I am not 100% certain that I am going to offer my sliders at this point in time. I am really happy with the way they look and the mounts that I designed are some of the best out there, unfortunately I went a little overboard with the mounts/laser cutting/bending and my price would be higher than the other sliders currently on the market.

Before the increase in metal prices and everything else I had a little bit of profit built in if I priced them with the other sliders on the market, however with the increased prices in steel and everything I would simply break even on the sliders if not lose money.

As soon as I get into the new shop and everything settles down I will look at the design and see if I can simplify it a little. Hopefully I will be able to bring the cost in line with the others on the market but if I can not find a happy medium between quality and appropriate cost I would rather not offer the sliders.

Other than my sliders the only other ones that I personally like are the sliders made by Bill Burke.
