I just added a hardtop to the 90. I like it and it's much quieter EXCEPT for the doortops. The whistling is enough to cause hearing loss at 75mph

I've added weather strip to the doortops and it appears to seal good. However, at speed, I suspect that the top, forward corners are coming out; causing the whistling. I put thicker weather strip in the corners, to no avail. I suppose I'll go thicker yet.

How to you all seal the doortops? Or do you just buy earplugs? :)

My hadrtop had rubber weather seals on it around the door tops. and when i had it on there was no wind noise comming from it. There is also a bolt that held in the front corner, it is just infront and above of the door top. Also in the custom mods section someone mad a bar to hold in the door tops.

You can also try to adjust the strike plate of the door latch. By moving it in a little bit it pulls the whole door into the body (seals)more and it might be enough to pull the door tops in. This worked on my passenger side completely and on the driver side I needed to add a small piece of weather strip in the top corner to eliminate it.

Yep, I've got all the bolts in. I think it's just doortop flex at speed. No wind noise; that'd be nice!

Yeah I saw that mod, and while it's a good idea, I'd like to fix it with weather strip (if possible).

Thanks for the tips!

Excellent idea! :thumbs I'd forgotten about the striker plate adjustment.

Thanks!

I think it was Chris "V" that said he put a thin layer of rubber or gasket on the outer edge of the bottom of the window and then really cranked down the quick nuts to help pull the door top inward to help seal it more.

OK, I've got the doors sealed good now. Of course, now I figure out where the whistling is really coming from.

Turns out it's coming from between the two pieces of glass. The weather striping between the two pieces of glass is good and pliable. It looks to me like the glass is further apart at the top vs. the bottom. Also, the glass fits loosely in the top track, but not the bottom. Replace the top track felt perhaps? Looks like it'd be a beatch to do. Anybody done it?
