Hi,
New to the board. Anybody in Chicago? I am going to do some restorative work to my 97 Wagon and was wondering if anybody knew of a paint good shop. Looking for one that can powder coat.
I also had the SW in the dealer for some needed maintenance. I had the standard 30k done with a few extras - decarbonized the throttle body and had a gasoline treatment for the valves. Apparently LRNA discovered they were getting sticky. Highly recommend it next oil change. Save yourself some money though and call EE, as John told me they carry it when placing an order today.

Eric,
Hi, I'm in Arlington Heights. Are you actually in Chicago or the suburbs? If you're in the 'burbs, Erik over at Magnum Automotive (on Oakton near Higgins & Busse Rds in Arlington Heights) does very good work. I had my dinged and scratched driver door fixed up by him just recently. Their number is 847-593-0707.

Paul,
I am up in Deerfield. Almost done with the rehabs and am going to sell the house to get back to the city. I'll give them a ring.
Do you have any experience with the Chicago LandRover Club? I am thinking about joining, but it looks like I'd have to cruise all over the Chicagoland area for meetings!
I like your ST, Mine is an Alpine white SW. Who do I send pics to?

We had a chance to spend a few days with some people from the Chicago club out in Moab. A real nice group of people. You should have a great time with them if the rest of the club is like the gang we meet up with.

Eric,
Thanks. I just bought my D90 too, like 3 weeks ago. chrisvonc is right, the people at the Chicago LR Club are very nice. It's cool to have the camaraderie. I'm not officially a member yet, but I did just send in my membership form. I went to their November club meeting in Hoffman Estates even though I wasn't a member yet and they treated me as if I was one.
I think you should definitely join. Club meetings are kinda spread out, so I think everybody has to eventually hike everywhere. I'm sure there's folks from the city. There's a December party coming up, so send in your membership form and show up. It'd be nice to not be the only new guy there! ;-). Check out the web site for more info.
Shoot me an email if you're gonna be in the Arlington Heights area.

Paul,
Cool. Will do. Let me copy the Workshop manual for you first though, as I just bought it and the 97 copies go fo a more than a few dead presidents.

Eric, thanks for the offer to copy the manual. But I actually have a copy that I bought from a guy in Chicago who had it after he sold his Defender.
I'm sure someone else could use the copy though if you have it.
Take it easy,
Paul

I would be more than happy to pay for the expense of photo copies as well as for your time and shipping. Let me know, otherwise I have to buy one as well.
Thanks

Joe,
No problem. E-mail me off-line and I'll be happy to send it out your way. I am off this Friday and could have it out to you sometime next week. Just get a white three ring binder about a 3" should do well.
Irvine? Nice. My cousin used to live there. Moved to Ladera (sp) Ranch in South Orange. I was just out in there in September. Very cool place. Couldn't believe what they paid for a house though. And I though the city was expensive.

Eric,
It won't let me e-mail you b/c you have private e-mail blocked. If you don't want to release the block you can e-mail me first and I will reply. Thanks again - Joe
