Hi all. I have the original Grey Fiberglass hard top for my 94 ST and want to paint it Alpine White to match my truck. Has anyone done this? Is there anything in particular I need to know about painting it? Should I try to paint it myself with LR Alpine White spray paint (@ $13.50 a can) or have it done at a body shop? As you probably know, the hard top is textured, so I'm really not so worried about how it will look if I spray it myself. Will it need a clear coat as well? Will it be very susceptible to scratches on the fiberglass? Advice? Help...

i've seen it done before... there's a guy in the bio section who had painted it all yellow.

Here's some photos of one that I used to see in Denver once in a while. I never met the owner Dick Armstrong and don't know how to contact him.
Good luck, I think the painted hardtops look great.

There is a guy at Roversnorth who painted his.

I would think it would be a PITa to get it to stick.

Plus I have heard you see all kinds of hairline cracks.

When I get my hardtop, I plan on getting some marine grade body filler, filling in all the texture, and painting it a satin black color. It will be some work, but I think it will look better that a leather grain grey hard top.
