in the battery box what do yall use to secure your optima's? my current setup is kinda ghetto since the factory stuff is too big, i had to use a combination of washers to secure the battery sicne it is smaller than what was initally in the truck from the factory. i will try to get a photo as it hard to explain.

Phillip, I would stay away from Optima batteries. Mine died and wouldn't recharge. I installed the dual battery system from AB and it came with the the braces to hold down the two batteries.

Optimas are one of the best battery you can get. Due to the sealed cell they can be bummed from the start but the warranty is very good. To hold down my duel batteries I used ratchet ties and hoops. $8 and looks very clean.

I agree. The yellow top in our Disco has performed flawlessly for the past 4 year running all my lights and winch. I put a yellow in the D90 earlier this year. I reused the factory mount as I was tight on time and worked with what I had.

cool i will check out the ratchet ties. i know tons of folks with the optima. sorry to hear yours shitted out. I think there should be some recourse with whoever you bought them from. I know if i paid that much for a battery that wouldnt recharge. well i would get another one for free.

It's past me now. It was a frustrating time trying to park on hills in flat Richmond.

According to city side garage in the boston area... www.citysidegarage.com , optimas fail more than any other battery. i just put in dekas....1000 cold cranking amps....one hundred bucks

Hey Phil, check out his old thread and you can see what I use to secure both of my yellow-tops: http://www.d-90.com/discus/messages/16/1940.html

It's a nylon strap that is secured by two SS-loops at the bottom of the battery box. It's really snug and is a lot easier to remove too. Let me know if you'd like any more pictures.
