I finally broke down, and ordered myself something I've wanted for a loooong time. So in about a week, my new Hobart 140 Mig Welder should be arriving :-)

Funny how all sorts of ideas are suddenly flooding into my head for both the Defender as well as the CJ, now that I'll have the equipment to build them.

The best investment I have for my welder is my auto darkening speedglas helmet....just love it.

I've been gettng some great deals lately on E-bay. Found a place called Quimby welding supplies, got the 140amp Hobart with an auto-darkening hellmet and a bunch of accessories for $550 and free shipping. Rare to see an e-bay seller with 100% feedback and almost 1300 sales.
