Last weekend I went out Wheeling up north during our little snow storm. One of our crew had snow chains, and when we got to a hard spot we threw them on his Rover. He only had 2 so we put them on the rear. What a difference, he was able to drive on ice and snow like it was not there, he drove up a small hill that a fully locked 90 would slide backwards while trying to drive forward. Chains make all the difference in the snow.

Besides getting a heated front window what do you do to keep the center of the window from icing up? I can deal with the cold but not seeing what's in front of me kinda sucks. Whenever I got above 20 mph the window would ice up in the middle and then I would have to get out and scrape the window clean.

Has anyone put one of those disconnect plug/valve/hoses on the oil pan to be able to change the oil more neatly rather then make a mess all over the place. If not anyone know the thread size of the drain plug?

On a side note while I was in PA i saw a nice 110 at the Harrisburg Land Rover dealership if anyone is looking. It had a roof rack and brush guard. I took a few pics if anyone wants to see. Oh and Chris I did not have that much spare time so it would have been hard for us to meet up.

Here's something that Chris Glaves did to help keep the ice off. Evidently they extended their windshield washer hose and wrapped it around the radiator hose 5 or 6 turns. This should help de-ice your windshield and possibly your wiper blades.

Mike - I second your comment about snow chains. When I lived in Oregon I had them for all my vehicles. Studded tires are awesome also. I kept a spare set of rims with studded tires on them and would put them on before the first snow storm. They're almost as good as chains and less hassle. Unfortunately not legal in most eastern states.

I will have to try the radiator hose trick.

Chains rule.

The key to no mess with the oil is to take the oil filter box and make a chute out of it. I can change my oil without any getting anywhere.

Oh, I forgot one thing. I broke a rear lower Rovertyme shock mount while I was out 2 weekends ago. I don't want to buy a new one and put it on then break it again because it hangs so low. Does anyone make a good shock mount that mounts above the axle? Oh a few weeks before this I saw someone brake one on a Range Rover classic.

If I understand you correctly, you're looking for an upper shock mount rather than lower? If so the only upper shock mount for the rear of the D90, that I know of, is the Scorpion Racing mount. LandRoverStuff.com sell them. You might want to give them a shout.

Nope, I broke the mount off the axle, the uppers are fine it's the lower ones that get banged on rocks, trees and small cars. It's sitting in the back of my 90 right now with a bent shock. What I ment about above the axle was the bottom of the shock was mounted to the top of the axle and not under the axle.

What if I just made up some tabs and mounted them to the axle so they kept the shock in line? It can't be any worse then it is now with only one rear shock. I'll have to e-mail KC.
