No Spark

Changed cap and wires. Truck started and ran fine. Went inside to wash hands, came back out truck dead. Try to start no love.

Put back on old coil wire no love.

Put back on old cap no love.

No spark at plugs, no spark at coil. WTF.

Help.

Ron,
Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Turns out the mounting screws (which double as the ground) of the amplifier module were loose. The shop manual says that it is mounted to the side of the distributor, but mine was mounted on the back of the coil mounting bracket.

Fixed it, the little connector on the negative side of the coil was making intermitent contact.

It still does not run perfect but it runs with no CEL.
