Wheel arches-how are they held on?

I'm putting the wheel arches on the CrewCab (finally, yeah I know...) and couldn't figure out how they went on stock.

I got a bunch of 10-32 aluminum riv-nuts and allen button-head stainless screws and thought that's how I could install them.

Although I believe when I am done I will have a superb result, I'm starting to wonder if I'm trying to re-invent the wheel and if there isn't a plastic plug that just holds the whole thing in place.

Also, for those of you who have fitted rock-sliders, do you remember approx. how much of the flare you cut off of the back-side to clear the slider? I think I have a good idea, just wanted to see what others have done.

Mike, there are plastic rivit type things that hold the arches on and I thing 2 sheet metal screws. One on either end.

Mike, when I installed my Mantec sliders I didnt need to trim anything from teh stock arches.

I know the Southdown sliders for 110s come with little front and rear end caps that match the slider up to the tip of the arch.

Hmm. I've never seen the Southdown sliders.

The sliders I have come forward of the bulkhead and end where the wheelarch sheetmetal does, matching the same angle.

I'll see if I can't get at least one on tomorrow and take a pic.

the eyebrow's as they are called are held on by Plastic rivets

and you need 56 of them to do a 110/90

check a good hardware store. we have one here i Boulder, CO (Mcguckin's for the locals) that has the almost exact same riv-nut for something like $0.25/ea ... or at least they were last year when i picked some up for the 90...

No, that's ok Gord, by the time you order yours I'll have my wheelarches on.

I have 3-pair, so I have to do the front/rear of the CrewCab and also the Chuck Wagon trailer (Defender 110 rear tub).

good luck. I took my wheel brow off to remove the car polish my father-in -law dripped all over one. (Now love Mothers products, still hold grudge against FatherinLaw).
The plastic rivets that held it on, on my D-90 there were a bunch, cost me $0.75 each and trips to 4 auto parts stores. All the stores had them, just not enough of them.
Cost me a bloody fortune to put the thing back on.

Thanks for the heads up on the plastic rivits.

I got both my eyebrows on and am honestly glad I did it the way I did. The riv-nuts and SS machine screws worked perfectly, plus I'll be able to remove them if I need to.

I did end up having to 'shave' the lower end of them on each side to clear the sliders, but they look sharp and are on very securely.
