well not really new but has reappeared. on my rear diff at the yoke/front of the diff where the drive shaft goes in it appears to be leaking. How big a deal is this if its leaking? I keep the fluid full doesnt leak that much but you can tell its losing fluid. The way Is this a hard seal to fix? I am not really sure about the rover diffs? would the 3rd member have to come out to fix it? I had it in the shop the ohter day they didnt seem to notice.........

I don't think you have to pull the 3rd member. You just remove the Drive-shaft then undo the pinion nut and I think the seal is under that. Someone asked this not too long ago and it was a relatively simple fix.

I asked this question under the heading differential about a week ago and got a response on fixing the problem. But this is what I have done so far. My leak is very small to the point where there is just now getting a small drop on the garage floor. I noticed the flange looked like it was bent or coming out a little bit at the bottom where the leak was. I took a peice of wood and tapped it with a hammer so the flange is now even all the way around. There was no drops on the floor this morning but it will take a few days fo driving to see if I actually did anything.

I just had my U/J changed,as the drive shaft was being reinstalled my mechanic (quick plug)Vinny, Import specialist, noticed a drop of fluid and proceeded to reseat the seal and the leak stopped. The job is not complicated and just took a minute.
