I just went trolling for info in the old BBS and it had a different look!
Not a real question, but is this a preview of things to come? (sorry to be a pest, it looks good.)

LOL the old forum :) No I don't think that is a preview of what is to come, that is more of a blast from the past :)

Thanks, Mike.
I guess its been too long since I've checked that out.:blush
Lots of good stuff there. It seems like anything you can think of has been done before.

lol I often think that myself. I have learned more just reading old posts on this board and the old one then I have asking questions :)

haha.. no as Mike said, that was the old forum that usally crashed out horribly every so often. Usally when it did, it meant the host made some patches to the server and tried not telling anyone about it. After the 2nd major crash, I went to this format which is a good base to build on.

Oh if you like anything off there, better print out copies of it. As of now there still is no working importer for that old version into this forum and if i ever get to switch to Charles servers, it will be going bye-bye. Too much effort to try and get it setup and going just for archive.

Blast from the past. I never saw the old stuff. If you still have it Chris I can take a look at it to see if there would be an easy way to make it available for archive purposes.

Ahh you know what... I think after the server IP changes a while ago and didnt think to fix the connections. I will try to get that fixed tomorrow if I have time. Getting ready to head back to the east coast for the holiday week.

The original forum software the site used. There is a link to it under the Non-Tech's sub-sections listings

Cool. Is it version 4.x? It seems there is a VB importer for 4.x

Yeah 4.0.0.3 I think (the free ver though). Its been a long time since I checked into the importers and the one I tried didnt work so good. Again its been like a year and a half since I tried an import so I will check out the latest versions and see how they made out with them.

Can anyone think of a reason why we would want to keep any of the other sections besides the General Tech section to import?

Let me know if you need help with it - might be able to make some time next week while at the beach.

Cool thanks Charles. Dont think you will need to disrupt your vacation. Right off the only thing I can think I need to do is pull a current DB backup before setting things in motion.

I'd test on the dev instance. Should be current enough already to be a valid test and won't hurt if it F's it up.

oh that reminds me I need to fix the config file on the dev side too unless you are going to do a fresh copy over..
