Ok, I was going through a bunch of rover pics and realize we've never really aggregated the *BEST* rover pics for a particular year. How about it?

Guidelines:
1. Post up to 3 of your best D-90 or 110 pics from 2005.
2. That you, your passenger or your camera took.

Feel free to ad your comments, captions, dialogue....

Bob

Follow-up Post:

Nick's 90 in Moab.... everyone helping out, except one guy.... hummm.

I get freaked out everytime I see that shot. I keep thinking about kids in car seats.

Thanks KB. That is has been on both my desktops at work since we came back. :)

Not a picture, but my favorite video of '05 was from Maine and the winter romp. (http://www.salmons-leap.com/winterrompmovies/animal.wmv)

Some of you may have seen it. Mike H. was in the backseat... It was funny, and scary.

Some more of my favorites from then. Dave Souza doing his thing in the icy streams. My favorite Series with 36's and a 300 tdi, and my soon to be bride, hammering my truck up the hill with chains on (that's me in the gray jacket running for cover).

The other one is Frank in his yellow d-90 in VT in the spring. a few months before it landed on it's roof. Finally, the one of me with a few people hanging on to keep my precious body panels clean... I was too far from home.

It was a good year.

Dave,

Franks 90 in Tunbridge, foreshadowing perhaps? Every now and then I look at the album from that trip and think about how much that whole trip just kicked ass.

Not from 2005, but was featured in The D-90 Source 2003 Calendar (September)...and one of my favorite D90 pics...

I should do another calendar. I can do regular flip month calendars now rather than one huge poster like the 2003 one and they sold pretty good. Plus it made a good poster even after the year was done. Funny, I myself never got to keep a final version of what sold. The only one I have is the last test print without a December truck on it. LOL

Chris,

I actually never used mine during '03. Eventually I had it framed as well as a poster I got from the dealer and some D90 ads that I collected and had them framed. They all hang in one of the guest bedrooms.

Here's a 110 game viewing truck I photographed in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia a couple of months ago. It's a fairly new td5 built in South Africa.
Unfortunately as I took this I was sitting in a 78 series LC truck.

That calendar does look pretty good framed. Chris, are you going to have 2006 made? I would love to have one if you do. Also, Kevin, that's a good idea framing the ads like that.

Here are my Defender stuff...

The orange in person looks more University of Texas burnt orange....which is kinda funny since I went to Texas A&M (my dining room is painted maroon though) :)

I can't tack credit for the D90 ads. My mother typically has one done for me for either birthday or Christmas every year. She had the idea. She collected them off of ebay for a few months and put the whole thing together - as well as the calendar and poster. I also have a cool Classic RR ad she had done for me.

For Christmas this year she did a page out of a LR Journal that was an advert for the Holland & Holland. It's matted in what is as close to Walnut as possible and the wood is very similar to the French Walnut gunstock in the truck. I'll snap a picture of it tonight sometime.

I might do a normal flip 12 month calendar. The poster was 4 months to do. I can do a regular calendar in 1/4th the time so I might if we get some good pictures.

I like this one from the Rpver Pictures thread:

I rented this 110 while traveling in Belize. When I first arrived I had booked a Trooper online prior to arrival and it lasted about 2 days. To make a long story short it had 160,000 miles on it and Belize is well known for its unmarked pedestrian speed jumps..I mean speed bumps. 55mph + a huge speed bump @ 1am with a piece of shit Trooper = a demolished front end. I called the rental agent and told him his cars steering was a little off and wanted to return the car. Suprise to me, he said OK. I returned the car and noticed this D-110 sitting at another rental agency and I have never been the same since. Credit card in hand I walked over to my new care rental agent and made the deal. With the GPS in hand I drove this beast up the mountains, down logging roads, through rivers. The cool thing was that it was a RENTAL. I really got my monies worth. The picture at night with the lights on is myself and the 110 parked on Francis Ford Copala's private airstrip up in the mountains. He owns a mountain lodge that I stumble upon while cruising through the back country. On my way out I parked on his airstrip and took this picture. I had a friend with me and he didn't drive it once..he never asked, hahah.
If anyone is ever interested in going to Belize and renting this Rover, with FULL INSURANCE, I got the card of the guys that runs this agency right at the airport.

All the best,
Mike
