No , the nylon strap thing that you put the end through, then wrap it back a few turns on itself and it locks in. Keeps you from pulling the line all the way out and lets you winch from basically the end since you have 4 turns on the drum that won't slip since it is self tightening. I have one from Jesse but need a 2nd. I think he is away on vacation.

Dynaflex invented that... But, I believe that they are out of business. Contact Jason Michaels at Red Rhino, he was a reseller, he may have one or two left. BTW, I want one too...
