Will have my pal, Gary install the
OME front & rear shocks and springs, plus the streering stab.
This, of course is done on the side.
How much work is it and how much should I offer to pay!?

well most places seem to charge around the 80-100 note an hour for labor so....

If your friend knows what he is doing and the truck is in good shape the total replacement time should be
about 5 to 6 hours. There are plenty of posts on this board with great pictures showing what needs to be done. My truck is totally rust free so I had no stuck bolt problems and it took me 6 hours total. I also
waxoyled the frame at the same time. Give your Pal a couple of 8 packs of Guinnes and cook him dinner, should be adequate payment.

Whenever my group of friends pitches in on the "move" thing it's 1 beer per 100lbs. moved. Since your truck weighs 2 tons, I'll say a case of beer and call it.

It took you 6 hours to replace 4 shocks and springs? That sounds about right I guess, if you took a 5 hour nap in the middle! :hmm

That's what I thought. I think I took closer to two and a half hours but there was beer involved.

LOL.. Im with David. I could do them blindfolded.. 15min per corner.. :)


IF you really want to pay the guy. I would be happy with a Hundo ($100) in my pocket if I did them for you..

Six hours. Come on, for a novice thats not to bad. I also waxoyled the entire frame. Both the hard wax and the internal spray wax. There was a lot of drinking involved too though.

soooo, cold hard cash it will be...and considering that he allways looks for other proplems and fixes them on the way ( which I truly benefit from )..Has all part shops on speed-dial...
Is very anal about cleaneliness and best of all is timely & knows what he's doing...
The fair amount for this adventure is ( drumroll )... $ 200 bucks for Gary..the Housecall car service specialist..
UNLESS any of you helpfull, resorcefull, allways happy to assist duds happen to be in my neck of the woods..
I say, come on down.... Fridge is allways full of cold Warsteiner ;) :toast

Well,

Beer does have a multiplier of 4.013 so add that in then a 1 hour job sober is really 4.013 hours drunk. So you are still 1.987 slow. :(

You mean the guts? About 10 minutes. If you mean the whole thing, maybe 25 minutes. On mine, all you have to drop is the lower plastic plate. Not sure if it is tougher on a NAS. Thanks for the kind words!

Welll, figure 10 minutes to get those @%$%#^ shear bolts out and 5 minutes for everything else. I had to do this once trailside when my ignition decided that'd be a good time to go south on me. Those shear bolts are a bitch without a center punch. When I replaced the ignition I threw those damn things out and found SS replacements at Lowes that work just as well and don't shear off.
