View Full Version : 3.5 to 3.9 install

I am tossing around the idea of replacing my 3.5 carbed for a 3.9. I dont want the EFI and will be using my carb and intake manifold on the 3.9. I dont want to mess with trying to make the EFI work on my truck. I am guessing it will be a pretty straight forward switch. Any hiccups I might run into?

What year is the 3.5 you're replacing?

It,s out of a 1988 Defender. it has 180k miles on it.

Ok, then it has the same oil pump setup and distributor. Should just bolt right in IIRC.
