In light of a good week of booze and bands I wanted to see if you all had some good suggestions for music/bands and beer. There is a ton of great music and microbreweries out there and I wanted to share my personal preferences and hear some new suggestions so please add.

Beer:
Sweetwater Brewery in Atlanta (esp their IPA, 420, and Sweet Georgia Brown)
Highland Brewing (esp their Kasmir Pale Ale and Oatmeal Porter)
Bridgeport IPA
Brooklyn Pennant Ale
Terrapin Brewing of Athens, GA (all especially their Big Hoppy Monster)
Spaten Optimator
Saison Dupont (was called the best beer in the world by Men's Journal)
Weihenstepaner Hefeweizen

Bands:
North Mississippi Allstars(www.nmallstars.com (http://www.nmallstars.com))
Robert Randolph (www.robertrandloph.net (http://www.robertrandloph.net))
Drive-by Truckers (www.drivebytruckers.com (http://www.drivebytruckers.com))
The Black Keys

Please add some suggestions, I love trying new beer and especially love listening to new albums.

Hmmm

I really enjoy Dead Guy Ale by Rouge Brewery (http://www.rogue.com/brews.html#deadguy). IPA is nice too, but I'm obviously biased given my location. I also love Caldera's (http://www.oregonbeer.org/caldera.html) Dry Hop Red. Arrogant Bastard Ale is also nice too. Especially in winter. There's nothing like a pint of Arrogant Bastard (http://www.arrogantbastard.com/) in mid January. I stick to those brews quite often but will sneek a IPA Bridgeport in there every now and then.

Thanks for suggestions on the brews. I'm always on the lookout for something new.

If you like those three, you should love Lucero (http://www.luceromusic.com). I happend across Lucero about 2 years back while in Boston. They are probably the best live show I have ever seen, and I have been to literally thousands and thousands of shows... everything from Jerry Lee Lewis to Neil Young to No Doubt to the Dead Kennedys, etc etc. Lucero takes the cake. I swear by them so much so that I have their name tattoo`d on my arm (long story). They have sort of a mellow, southern rock/ blues sort of thing going on. My favorite album of theirs is "Tennessee", but they are all brilliant.

Also, this guy named Cory Branan. He`s good shit. check him out at http://www.corybranan.com

Last, Cat Power. Cat Power is Chan (pronounced Shawn) Marshall. She just put out a new album called "the Greatest", which has her backed up by Al Greens old band. It`s a lot more mellow and jazzy, but absolutely beautiful if you like female vocalists. http://www.catpowerthegreatest.com

I'm listening to a bunch of old "X" right now - its vintage LA punk and really a must have if you like rock n' roll.

Mmmm, two of my favorites. If you like a nice brown, check out Big Sky's Moose Drool. O'Dells 90 Schilling and New Belgiums 1554 are good too. My latest find is Heather Ale's (http://www.heatherale.co.uk) Kelpie. Yep, it's a seaweed ale. Actually all 5 of their beers are really good, but if you're a hophead, you won't like them as none of them contains hops. They're ancient Scottish Ales.

I was just up there (Boulder) last week. Southern Sun does have some nice beers. I particularly liked the Claymore Scotch Ale.

I'm a fan of Starr Hill Brewery's "Darkstar" stout and "Mojo" amber. http://starrhill.com/Home
If you can find Caffrey's Irish Ale anywhere buy it, it's like Guinness Light. They aren't importing to the US any more because of a legal battle with the distributor, so it's the Defender of beer! If you're in the caribbean Piton from St. Lucia is a really good beach beer.

For music the only obscure bands I'm listening to are Virginia Coalition (www.virginiacoalition.com) and Eric Branner (http://ericbranner.com/).
