Look what the PNW just handed down......a Land Rover Icicle! Probably old hat to you east and mid-western-ers, but pretty rare over here.

OUCH! Man, CVC really brings the hammer down doesn't he!:grin I guess I'll need to put in for sticker!!
An extra thirty minutes huh! Hehehe, the entire city of Portland has shut down! Always does and it doesn't matter if it's a foot of snow or half an inch. Great to get an extra day off to play with the D90 though!

DJ, didn't you have an ARB bumper or somthing like that?
Hans
January 7th, 2004, 06:34 PM
I was about to say the same thing, looks like a normal winter storm out here. Just don't lock the doors, and flip I should dig out some of my pictures of how much ice it takes to worry us out in the NE. Anybody else suffer through that big ice storm a few years back in upstate NY and Canada? Ripped down almost every electrical pole north of Albany, including the big high tension towers.
When you know they're coming all you need to do is make sure the doors are unlocked, the wipers are flipped away from the glass, and you give yourself enough time to let things heat up.

Thanks Randy! I'm really please with that set up. Although, I made the mistake of using my old 764's from the front and installing them in the rear when I should have just bought new ones.
Yousef, nope no ARB still stock, but I might be looking into it soon. I've been having some problems acquiring a bumper recently and just might go ahead with the ARB. I think ARB is perfect for what I use my D90 for. Plus, I appreciate the aesthetics of it. I really liked Kevin Collins old D90 with the ARB on it. Although I'm still not sure whether to go with the new Warn thermo or the Husky 10K SW.

Yea I agree, does that picture reflect the description you have in the BIOS section or have you made some modifications?

DJ, dont worry man I understand I'm in the Gresham/Farview area rockin the D90 ST. The freezing rain is bad but the Gorge wind is worst

Sorry Dennis, but the modifications list in my BIO's does reflect my current vehicle status, but the pictures don't. In fact those pictures are three years old!! I guess I should get off my a** and get CVC some new pictures! It's a nice set up though. I've got OME 781's in the front and 764's sin the rear. Just enough to fit the 8.25 (34.5") XZL's! It's the same set up as John Lee of the Expedition Exchange. If you can find some 8.25 XZL's I really recommend them.
So far they've been great in the rain (and were talking Columbia Gorge Rain, e.g. 40 MPH winds with a hard rain) and the snow! However, they don't clean as well as I had initially hoped, but still they're a good strong tire. I was also surprised how well they grab. If there was a rut in the road, be it pavement or dirt, they'd find it. That can be a little un-nerving at a whopping 70 MPH. Well, that's "whopping" for my D90 anyway.
Oh yeah, sorry about the current overload of "D90 Source" stickers there CVC!:grin I didn't think this would cause you and over-load "order" for them! I guess it's good for "The Source"!;)

OUCH Britt! You're not going anywhere for a-while! That ST must be tough out there right now with those gales just pounding that area!! I get the "shivers" just thinking about that wind pushing through!!! I use to work out there in High School (pre-rover days) and it was really unpleasent when the George picked up in the Winter!
By any chance do you make it to the local PCRC meetings? If not you should swing into the next one!

Oh DJ, I'll bottle some up for you and send it. It's 14 degress outside with -1 windchill. Saturday, the daytime high will be 20 below with the expected windchill.
The funny thing is, I'll be skiing Saturday. Brrr...
And the Pat's will be playing at Foxboro!

Wow.. I was just outside and its in the - degrees here in NJ.. This sucks. The windscreen wiper fluid in my truck is frozen solid its so cold.
DJ, I like the XZL's but I wanted the 9.00x16's since they would look bad ass with my 3" lift but no one has them anymore.

Hmmmm....don't look very cold to me in Portland. I guess I have to say that's because I live in balmy Boston now. That's compared with driving a Series IIa for years in the place where i grew up...Eureka, Alaska....where it gets a F of a lot colder than it does anywhere down here. It's only about 140 miles north/northeast of Fairbanks. Try that series truck at -68 degrees F and I mean on the thermometer....not some bogus windchill stuff...can you say square tires? And to think I still love those old trucks.....after that punishment.

Scot, I always knew it was real cold when my series would be real hard to shift for a few miles until the trans warmed up. It would be super tight to get it in first ...
