putting out the feelers...

complete exceptionally good running d90 300Tdi 50,000 mile drivetrain.
1.4:1 t-case,
Ashcroft Underdrive (3 months old)
complete front (RHD) and rear axle assemblies
New stock front 1/2 shafts
GBR 24 slpine rear axleshafts
rear ARB with compressor and wiring
front True Trac
R380
newly rebuilt diriveshafts.
Safari Gard rear lower links, captured 3" ome lift.
4 35X10.50 ssr's on disco steelies with less than 1000 miles
2 extra disco steelies.
1 285X75 r 16 spare (new)on stock d90 alloy
bolt in roll bar

good RHD bulkhead
body panels complete, but well-used
All still assembled on a d90 frame that is bent, but possibly fixable, will only consider selling complete.
runs and moves, leaks no coolant or fluids, but can't be driven far due to the bent frame/ front pinion angle.

Right now i'm still figuring out what i am going to do, but get on the list for first come first serve if i decide to let it go whole....AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF PARTING IT OUT>>>>SO DON"T CIRCLE THE KILL LIKE A BUNCH OF VULTURES :)

it really should be in the parts section where i originally posted this......that's all it is now... :(

it will make a good rig again with a frame and front clip, i just don't know if i have it in me to build it for the third time...

if you buy it Sandor...i'll throw in that bumper you were interested in... :)

Lyman, is this a whole truck or a pile of parts? You said you were not going to part it out so it sounded like a whole truck.

if it's sold....it will be sold as "parts" vehicle...., but most likely it will still be all in one piece.

....yep, it does suck, 7 years of my life.

Ok, cool, then I will leave it here since is a whole truck but if you deside to break it out, I can move the thread over to Part.

Man, after watching my D90 burn, I can feel some of yours or anyone else's pain of loss.

for what the insurance looks like they will be paying me, i can't afford to sell it for less than $14,500.
if there is any interest, let me know. otherwise i'm ordering a Designa chassis friday. this is an extremely hardcore rig for the money.

the frame may be pullable, but not for me.

e-mail for clearer diagnosis of damage if interested.

Lyman,

Very sorry to hear about your ordeal. Is there anyway that we can access pictures. Or can you send them to me. I might want to buy this from you, but would like some detailed pics. Thanks!!

Wow, what a bummer. I know how sick I felt when I put mine on it's side. It'll be a job, but I hope you can rebuild it.

it doesn't look that bad in pics, frame is wrinkled behind the bulkhead outrigger and forward of the trailing arm mounts on both sides. there are more pics scattered on the www.adirondackjeeps.com site of it in action prior to the fool running into me. you'll kind of have to take my word for the wrinkles in the frame, as although i did crawl under there to look at it once, i'm still pretty sore from the cracked sternum..

my Jeep friends are ready to help all they can. i figure i can swap the frame in under 30 man hours with good help...everything was never siezed when it was built, so i figure a in a weekend we'll have it back in operation. i know i can rebuild it, as i completely built it from parts myself, i just haven't convinced myself i want to, yet....but economically, it's still the cheapest thing for me to do to get back into a rig of this caliber.

Friday it will be, too late. if someone want's it....better act fast.

not really going to look much different....different winch bumper, sliders, and SG 3 link will be about the only changes. i'm REALLY happy with the truck as it is/was....i just want a little more flex in the front as i wheel with a lot of jeeps with 5" long arm kits and i have front flex envy.

Just for a challenge i sometimes throw the tranny in reverse and back up the trail....just kidding...

i usually turn around at the water and run it both ways...even before it was an issue. that's our current club policy, and IMHO whats after the water isn't really worth running anyway.

Nice. Know that spot well.

It is more fun turning and coming down. Twice the trail.

I read your thread on the Jeep forum, I am so very sorry this happened. :( I have sepnt time in the Adirondacks (near Fort Drum). Thank God you are OK, trucks can be re-built; people on the other hand are not always able to take a linkin' and keep on ticken'! Good luck and I hope the D-90 finds a nice home. Best Wishes! :)

You're a little late....new galvy frame is on its way, 3-link was just ordered, winch bumper on its way..... most everything except one wing has been tracked down....

you're back up over $20k now...if you're still interested i'd have to add everything up to give you a real number.

NICE! How long did it take to get to the point you could lift the body off?

Lyman

about 20 hrs working alone, including enough bodywork to save all but one outer wing.

WOW not bad! I have often thought about the driveway galvanized frame swap as it is the most economical. I figured I could do it in about a week (or most of it) if I have everything lined up before hand.

everything has been apart twice before...so i have the luxury of everything being slathered in never sieze. :)...i did some work last year on a rusty NAS that made me say never again on...

Ahh yes, I can only imagine all of the rusted corroded ready to be snapped bolts I will run into, I soo look forward to it! I think a big air wrench is in order for this job!

i spent over 5 hrs just dropping the tank, and trying to get the fuel lines off without having to buy new lines and pump ($550) for that rusty 90. Replacing the rear crossmember is more trouble than it is worth.

That's the dilemma I am in, I have been told it is not much difference in price to swap out to a galvy chassie then to replace the rear cross member. But I can see it taking longer because i am going to find things that I will want to replace. :rolleyes

Yeah, but in the end, you'll probably have to replace those things you find with a chassis swap anyway down the road. You might as well do it at once then eek it out. The great thing about the chassis swap is the chance to replace your bushings and put in new fuel lines. It just forces you to do it.

Mike, I bet we could do yours in a day with 3-4 of us. Just have you blast all the bolts for a day or two before with PB. air wrench, impact gun and cut off wheel.... :)

Mike Hippert
April 4th, 2006, 02:13 PM
LOL I think that may be the plan :P Maybe in a year or so, the frames not that bad, and it has been out of comission for too long to go out again this soon. I think I'll be replacing most if not all the bushings over the summer, just as long as the shop down the road has a big enough press! I also agree, it is a good time to replace all the other parts in need of it.

and $400 fuel pump...because the pipes on it are rusted out.... i whole heartedly agree...if you plan on keeping the truck...do it up, but economically, if you can only get $18K out of a D90...better just to let the next guy buy the fuel pump...

from personal experience..it takes 6 people minimum to lift the body...and mine was completely stripped out except for the dash. i would give it a couple of days to get it done...more than 2 people on the tear down will just get in the way.

I did a new rear crossmember and fuel tank skid for about $500. A frame will run about $2500.

I plan on two more days to get it back together and tweak the 3-link, and a day to make it all blue again.

burn out the bushings and hack saw the shells if you can't find a press......if you havn't guessed by now, i like to do all my own work

Mike Hippert
April 4th, 2006, 02:41 PM
I'm with you Lyman, I like to do all my own work, but I am limited as far as tools and space to keep tools. about 90% of my tools ride with me in the 90, only things that don't would be a floor jaclk and some jack stands, maybe a few other odds and ends. Thats why the small shop down the road gets some of my work, and they are pretty cheap anyway.

first frame shipped was wrong...if you look closely back farther at the pics you'll see it was a 200Tdi frame...so i ended up cleaning, sanding , and painting much more than i was going to while waiting for the correct frame.....100+ hrs of work so far.... definately no longer for sale.
