Looks intriguing but I cant tell how it mounts to the windshield frame.

it is designed to fit around the roll cage of a jeep. it mounts with u-bolts around the bar at the windshield and the bar behind the driver seat.
I've been trying to figure out a good way to jerry-rig it up but haven't come up with a good solution... yet.

This one says it's made for the D-90. I can't figure out if it's actually 'made' for the D90, or if it's 'universal.' Surely someone out there has one...

where did you find it? I've only seen the one for Jeeps.

The link in the first posting goes to the site that describes the console. On the left side it lists the vehicles in which this should fit. The last one is D90. However it also lists Jeeps and FJ-40s. I've learned that the length is adjustable to accomdate all of these vehicles and ubolts fasten in to the roll bar in back. I still can't figure out the front mounting though.

Would be a great CB and other doo dads mount - any more info on the front mount?

ARB makes a nice overhead console, that is actually made for the Defender. Can't use it if you have a sunroof though, as it extends past the back seats a bit if I remeber correctly.

I am going to pull my tuffy out of my 94 ST. Takes up too much room for what it does. I am going to put a bottom cushion in its place. The dogs want the room to stretch out. Any thoughts on the placement of a radio? It sounds like the tuffy overhead counsel is too much of a PITA to put in. I want to avoid any cutting of the dash and I have AC in the way any way. I thought I might put a tuffy CD changer box (6x15x10) behind the center cushion and mount the radio on the outside and use the inside for security. It is a high traffic area for the dogs. Another option is to get a radio that can be controlled remotely; anybody have any experience with them? Any and all ideas apprecdiated.
Thanks

I have the double compartment versions for my CJ7. I can take pics of anything for you. It is adjustable in length, and mounts the windshield frame using large machine screws. Very durable. For ST Defenders, it's a good option. For SW's though, I would prefer the Australian made ones: http://www.consoles.com/Rover_choose_model.htm

Thanks for the information. I read on another thread about "Mounting a CB" and they were talking about the difficulty of mounting the Tuffy overhead in a D-90 ST. Problems both on the roll bar end and the windshield end. I think i may just recognize that it is not going to be a plug and play event. The tuffy really does look substantial.
Thanks again

What is the part number on the ARB overhead console? Who carries it? I've never seen one made by ARB.
