Mallory distributor

I installed a Mallory distributor about 3 weeks ago and it was working great until today.
I took my d-90 in for Colorado emissions test, they ran it on the dyno, it passed, and then i drove about a 1/2 mile and it went dead. I am not getting any spark. The coil is fine, it appears that the distributor is no longer triggering..

Anyone have similar problem? any suggestions?

IF you need a new photocell, they make two different ones--the Unilite and the e-spark. The e-spark are 1/2 the price and that is what many recommend. Mine has been great.

It is what I am running now in my Mallory after I blew my unilite cartridge. Drop in replacement

Cool, and a big price difference too. Less than half a Unilite module as well.

Yeah. I was told that the original Unilite cartridge was made by hand. They upgraded the design and had them made in bulk in China or off seas somewhere, hence the price difference. They did this in response to others coming out with theirs made overseas too (especially Pertronix). Works great and at the price, you can carry a spare.

Sorry I can't answer your question- but I'm about to hook up a new msd unit myself. Did you just use the wires coming off the ignition amplifier or run a thicker guage?

I was pretty surprised, I tested the unilite module and it works.. The coil seems to have the right impedeance, everything is getting power, yet no spark.. Unless I am missing something, The only thing left in the circuit is the coil wire???? any idea what the resistance should be?

Just for the hell of it, have you tried just removing and re-seating the coil wire? Look down into the boots and make sure that they haven't slid down and that the actual connectors are making contact.

Factory coil, or aftermarket? On mine, the factory connections on the coil itself used to be very loose and fall off once in a while until I crimped them down tighter. And is it definitely no spark, or is it possibly no fuel?

Was it the original or a new Mallory coil?

The one that died was an Accel coil that I put in about a year ago.( when my stock coil died in the middle of nowhere). The new one is an MSD High vibration coil that someone recommended.
