I am in the process of galvanizing my D90 frame and wanted to know if it's considered okay to galvanize the firewall/bulkhead too.
I have heard that there can be big problems with doing this...(lack of proper drainage holes, etc) does anyone have any insight into this.
thanks in advance.

Go to the D90 Owner Bios and look at Randy Kremmer's gallery. He's in the process of building up his TDI D90 and he had a lot of stuff galvanized. I'm sure he'll pitch in here if he sees this.

Hi,
A friend of mine had his SII bulkhead galvanised without any problem.
You just have to make sure that there are no closed sections, they need vent holes drilling into them somewhere inconspicuous. Another issue can be distortion of the bulkhead due to heat.

You will have no problem galv. the bulkhead. It drains fine.. I would suggest that they don't quench it to cool it after it is dipped in the zinc. Tell them you want to to cool slowly and air dry so the thin metal does not warp... Mine came out great..
