Can a person from the States by a D-90 in Europe and have it shipped to the U.S. Curious , Someone told me it could not be done. Why?

So in a few years I can expect the price of early 110's and 90's to go through the roof. The earliest ones are 1983!
I best lay in a stock now while they're dirt cheap;)
