Out of the top 50 cars, Defender Bowlers placed 16, 21, 30 and 37th. The lone 110 td5 placed 28th.

Terrific results for our heavy, durable but underpowered beasts!!

Not bad for privateers and experimental designs!

I think Ford should approve budget to run a factory team of New Range Rovers next year. Could build a pretty cool looking truck out of that with a nice budget.

Considering thier budget was probably 1/10th of the winners, not bad.

I currently race a Baja Bug in the local offroad races but have been toying with the idea of a LR based vehicle for awhile. Anyone in So Cal interested in building a Bowler to race the Baja?

FYI 'the lone 110' was in fact a Bowler masquerading under a different name. Owners had a spat with Bowler, hence the name change.

Brave (?) UK Freelander entry lasted a couple of days and fell to bits.

Some of you may have seen the footage of one of the Bowlers end over ending in the desert. Driver was airlifted to hospital. Car brushed down, patched up and driven 5000kms back home to UK....!

Bowler on the Baja? Now that's cool!

Kevin, I know there was a 110 entered as a support truck for the Freelander. Any news on how it did?

Thanks,

Doug

Yep, they made it to Dakar, but with the truck literally held together with gaffer tape, string and cable ties.

I know the guys who built the auxillary tanks for the truck hence the inside team info.
