headlight switch sub

My headlight switch stopped working due to a combo of wear and possible small meltdown around the headlight contact. I just replaced my headlight switch with a simple 3 position toggle switch as an emergency repair,I 'm thinking of leaving this as a permanent fix as it feels stronger and firmer than the orig switch.Has anyone tried this ,any pros and cons to this setup.

Sure, it should be fine. Stick in a diode to get just the parking lights in position 2 and also the headlights in position 3.

I just replaced mine. I got the 94-95 style since the 97 wasn't available - and it was quite cheaper.

I used the connector from the 97 and crimped the wires with heat shrink around them. Good as new!
