speaker wiring?

do any of you all have any experience with the LR radio? i have been trying to get my front driver side speaker to work for a while. I am searching for its repective wires any idea where they run? I am gonna really start taking shit apart soon and wanted to have an idea as to where to begin my search. thanks its an SW.

Philip,
I would start with the speaker it's self and it's connection inside the door. With all the opening and closing, it can break the connection off the speaker, or damage the speaker. Pop the speaker out and test it, test the wiring with a different speaker.

Why rip up all the wiring in the dash, when you just might get luck and find the problem at the easy end.

Playing with electrical can be such a battle, good thing we dont have power seats, windows and sunrooffs and mirrors!!

the wiring for the speakers run in to the door post,up the door post ,out the bulk head into the engine side, under the tranny tunel to the inside of the pass. seat box into the amp. all while wrapped in black electical tape inside wire loom with about 50 different wires. so if any thing i would just run new wires to the amp from that speaker.good luck!!!

i have done all that already the PO had replace the wire for as far i can tell with some other speaker wire ( just on that speaker). i am trying to figure out where it is likely to go. the speakers are fine i am sure of that just the idiot PO halfassed the repair or lack there of.. could it be a channel or something in the amp. stereo systems are not in my field of expertise

I'll go and look at the wireing harness tomorrow while i'm at work. I just installed an XM radio in the 90.

I just used the wiring diagram in the FAQ/Interior and Comfort/Radio Pinouts and they matched perfectly to install an aftermarket stereo in my 97. I even removed the stock amp and the colors were correct. You may want to take a quick look. I found two of my speakers were unplugged while I was swapping in new ones.

Phillip, I the easiest way to check is by substatution. If you want to check the amp go to the amp and switch the wires for the front speakers. You can check the wiring by connecting the PS speaker to the DS wiring. And you can check DS speaker by connecting it to the PS wiring.

Anyone have recommendations on amp mounting spots other than the passenger seat box? I'd like to find someplace concealed, but am coming up short on options.

I think the seatbox is only location unless you put it behind the rear jumpseats but i would worry about it getting wet...

Must be the ice storm down there or something...smokin crack while your all couped up.

Looks like maybe the trans tunnel is the best alternative.

Dave, behind the dash is the defrost ducting, it's a PITA to get too very little room you might fit a 50 watt amp back there. If your trans tunnel is like mine when you lift it off you will be looking at the trans and T-case, if thats the area I think you are talking about. Could you mount it behind (or on back off) the the center console and make a cover for it?

There is a ton of room in that center console. I removed my stereo, and saw a LOT of space perfect for an amp. The only problem? It's REALLY hot in there. You might have issues with all that heat. I'm sure that's what killed my deck.

Mike, I meant the '97 center console/trans tunnel. It's got some room, but I already have a bunch of other stuff in there including the XM radio, MP3 hub connector and CB unit. As well as all of the switches for lights and compressor/ARB's.

Maybe I'll have to consolidate some wiring and clean it up in there.

AHH forgot about the 97 auto center console. Anyway how much were the chains? I have been thinkin about getin a set or 2.

Mike, I'm not sure how much you've wheeled with chains. But I wouldn't bother with getting two. I would go for all four. They are like $80-100 a set from Burke or OEX (Rud's that is). But I'm not sure if they have them for 35's. You might have to find an alternative.
