Has anyone ever tried to use a hitch mounted bike rack with on a Rover Accesories or Safari Gard type reciever hitch? The ones that mount to the rear cross member. I am wondering if the rack will clear a 265/75? or 85 on the back door? thanks

You should not have a problem with an extender bar from an auto parts store they come in all sorts of lengths for $15 - 30.

I have a 90 softop with 36 x 12.5 x 16 superswampers, I have the two bike carriers , the one that was available in 97 that swings down and the new one that swings out ( both landrover ) .The new one will not fit due to the tire sticking too far out for the hitch to properly catch ,The old one fits with no problem. I bought the new bike carrier without taking this into account and to make matters worse I also lost the keys that lock the bikes in place.

nah those just make the rack unstable and wobble around. I like my current yak because once its on there is doesnt move at all.
