View Full Version : ECR LED Group-Buy

Now I'm really a group-buy whore. Nevertheless, here's the deal.

ECR has the LED lamps in stock now, and we can organize a group-buy to get a discount. Exactly what that discount is, I'm not sure, but the larger the order, the greater the savings.

Right now they dont have the stuff in for the 94's and 110's yet (unless you want to convert to round 95+ style lights) but they will be arriving at some point.

Below are the kits and price-list from ECR, also dont fail to check out their web-page listing the features and pictures of the LED's:

http://www.eastcoastrover.com/LED.html

ECR LED tail lamp prices for 1995 and 1997 NAS Defender 90:

DIY wiring LED KIT
2 red stop/tail lamps
2 amber turn signal
$250.

DIY wiring LED KIT with Reverse
2 red stop/tail lamps
2 amber turn signal
1 clear reverse lamp
$475.

Plug and Play LED KIT
2 red stop/tail lamps
2 amber turn signal
$350.

Plug and Play LED KIT with Reverse
2 red stop/tail lamps
2 amber turn signal
1 clear reverse lamp
$575.

Plug and Play Deluxe LED KIT with Reverse (does front turn signals too)
2 red stop/tail lamps
4 amber turn signals
1 clear reverse lamp
$750.

Flasher unit for LED lamps
$15.

maybe ECR would just offer a discount to www.d-90.com members. Like in the "specials" section.

Mike emailed me those prices, they sure would look nice.

Unfortunately I do not use any other color for those size lights other than red. I run 5 red on the rear, and the turn signals up front (big lower ones) red as well, Hopefully I can be accomodated.

The group buy can offer a better deal than a discount for list members because someone else handles the group buy (JimC). He gets the total, deals with the shipping, etc. He collects all the data, places on large order for lights, all we have to do is put the lights in a box and send them to him, then he arrnages the rest.
That makes our part of the transaction very simple and therefore we can offer a much better price as we do not have to make much money to cover the transaction. The bigger the order, the bigger the discount.

As for "all red lamps". That will be no issue as JimC will just be ordering in bulk and he can place the correct order so that your needs can be handled.

What we are offering for the group buy is any of the DIY lamps. The Plug and Play units are not available for the group buy. Just give JimC the total number of lamps you want (2 red, 2 amber or 4 red, whatever).

Discounts depend on the final number ordered, but look to 20% and up if a min. can be met.

We are doing this to get a new product out into the public and I wanted to offer it only to list members.
This will be a one time thing on this product.
My plan is do offer this type of thing with each new proiduct we offer. This is the first.

The LED lamps are direct replacements for the factory parts. The reason we don't really push changing the front amber turn signals tro LED is that those lights don't have as many corrosion issues as the rears. Customer can do the fronts if they like though, due to cost we usually just do LED in the rear, but they will fit.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to convert from the Square style to the Round LEDs? (I like the round style)

Mike,

Nothing speacial in the wiring, but you will need to check that the 1994 holes in the body are covered by the 97 style black plastic housings. We haven't done that convesrion yet so I don't have first hand knowledge of if the new plinths cover the old holes.

Nothing yet on those, but we'll look into it.
If you clean the connections with a file and then fill the base with dilectric grease when you put a new bulb in they will last a good long time.

You get LED lamp units with wires coming out of them. Then you connect these wires to your trucks wiring however you desire.

So far we are at:

11 Reds
16 Ambers
6 Clears
6 Relays

And I'll order an extra set if I have to in order to get the ball rolling.

1 flasher unit does the vehicle.
The flasher unit is a direct replacement for the one already in your truck. Unplug it and plug this one in and the LED units will flash at the correct rate. Without it they will flash too quickly.

About 2 weeks and I will have the first sets. Then we will check if there are any fit issues or other problems.

Also, for those of you who are not splicing inclined, I can get you pigtails and render these "DIY" lights into "plug and play" ones. Obviously there will be cost for the parts, but I'll do it for free and wont make any money off it.

Where is the flash unit on your 97 auto trucks?
If its like my UK 50th LE which is like a 97 SW, its behind a metal plate behind the fuses. So when i swaped to LED bulbs a i had to remove the NAS tunnel to get access to the relay.

Yup, the flasher unit is in the same location on all NAS Defenders. Just to the left of the interior fuse panel and behind the metal plate, right next to the wiper delay relay. Easy in a manual car, but means center console removal in a 97 (auto).

There will be the possibility of another group buy available when the 1993-1994 units come out, if someone want to organize it. JimC might be pretty sick of this by then.

I dont know about the cost, the connectors can be sourced from the UK, but I'll have to research the part numbers. Mike at ECR might let me get off easy and just tell me if he knows. I'm guessing I can get the stuff from a place called Wiring Products IIRC.

Just sent JimC the price list. There are currently enough orders to get to the lowest price point.
Send a PM to JimC for the prices. They will not be publicly posted.

Wednesday Nov. 1st is the cut off for the group buy, so get your orders to JimC before then or you will miss out on this group buy.

There will be some minor shipping costs on top of this, but just UPS changers, no handling charges or anything extra on our end.

If you want to ckeck to see if this is a good deal you can go to this site.
http://www.europaspares.com
They sell the inferior Perei units (ECR sells RubboLite units) and if you bought them in the UK you would pay:
S/T: $76
Turn: $88
Before shipping.

Remember Nov 1st is the cut off date for the group buy and you must prove to JimC that you are a member of this D90 forum to obtain the group buy prices.
Thanks!

I haven't PM'd Jim yet for pricing. There appears to be a great difference in price for the clear lens bulb. Is it just that the bulb is more expensive or is there more to it than that?

Thanks

Hey Rod, from another post...

Red and amber are easy and cheap to make, clear ones are a fairly recent development and require a more expensive material. The clear ones have larger LEDs in them as well. Like Jim said, looks more costly to produce.

I figure I'll find the standard OEM style ones for those who want them, and otherwise people can source their own. I certainly agree that there are better connectors out there.

So far this is what I have - Please:
1) check that this is correct
2) EMAIL ME so that can capture your email address
3) give me your complete shipping info including contact phone number

Paypal is going to be the easiest way to pay me, but I cant afford to eat the paypal fees, so you'll need to add 3% if paying by paypal. For this much stuff I need to go buy some boxes and packing material, so I'll need to spend a few bucks for that too. There will also be a shipping charge from ECR to me, but divided 10 ways will be pretty small. I estimate the extra expenses over the cost of the lights will be about 20-25 bucks including shipping to your door.

I still dont know about the connectors, but hope to find out this week.
