Has anyone changed the fluid in their bottle jack?

How much fluid?

How do you fill it?

How do you bleed the air out of the system?

Thanks,

EwS

Haven't a clue Eric. Is it broke? I have seen them fail - my brothers was tanked, from a 1995 Classic. I think it wasn't stored right side up though, could have ruined it.

Wicks,

worked fine on my last flat. I turned the release valve too much and fluid drained. Just want to top it off. I found the fill plug, so hopefully it will work.

I hope to god it isn't toasted because they retail for 150!

Same thing happened to mine, and it hasn't worked since. I put more fluid in the fill hole, but there must be some bleeding procedure I'm not doing right.

Thought I'd revive this thread with some useful information:

I recently took a trip from Boston to Suffield, CT in the 110. This truck has a set ofBFG AT's fom my90. The 90 was bought with 70K miles on it and I put another 5K miles on these in the 110. They still had plenty of tread. Now I don't know if these were originals on the 90. I know they're a long lasting tread but who knows.

Anyways, took the Pike and 92S, all went well until we pull into the parking lot for my niece's soccer tournament. I hear a hissing sound, air leaking from the RR tire. Damn! Looking at it, it's not a flat but a tear in the sidewall - a substantial tear of 3-4 inches. A closer look revealed "crack" limes from the outer tread pointing in about 1-2 inches all around this tire.

The FR tire also looked prety bad so I got worried about making it home safely. I tracked down a local tire shop and bought a set of nwe ones.

Stepping back a bit - take out my trusty LR bottle jack, which has never been used, and it's low on oil! I can only raise it an inch! Fortunately a local lent me his mechanical minivan jack and I replaced the tire.

At any rate, picked up some fluid and filled both of them. However, I'm leaning toward the mechanical type. Sure, a hell of a lot more work, but a hell of a lot less maintenance.

If you want another one, call English-Swedish Spares in Alpharetta, GA.
They had a couple sitting on the shelf that were used last time I was in there.

Somewhere on the Source is information on bleeding the LR bottle jack. It's from a couple of years back.
