Putting a Bed in your D-90
I had that big piano hinge lying around, but I think it would be worth buying one. It does
a better job of distributing the load than a couple plain hinges would. The whole thing
folds in half on itself and fits on the floor of the rear load space when not in use. Only
addition I'd make would be to paint it (the plywood mildews if (when) the carpet gets damp).

The gray boxes on either end hold towing and recovery stuff. They are cast off boxes that
Springfield Armory used to store tooling for M1 rifle machining before they discontinued
production. The gray boxes are screwed to two 1x2 strips that are bolted to the old seat
mountings. The 50 cal ammo cans in between make great waterproof tool boxes that are
removable to carry around the truck as needed. They are held in place by bungies and have
a 2x4 behind them so they don't bash the aluminum body. I had to cut about 1.5" off the
Hi-Lift to store it there, behind the DS, but it's secure, out of the weather, always with
me, and doesn't rattle a bit.
